How do you come to this conclusion? And do you really try to tell us that Piranha Bytes is pioneer and leader in RPG market who pushed for full VO? Really?
Gosh…

There are two questions. And you can forget about the second. I understood it differently so my mistake.

Full voice-overs from A to Z….
is a trademark of Piranha Bytes games so I'd say that quality VO is definitely a CRUCIAL part of Piranha Bytes RPG.

Because if a series of games has always had one prominent feature that many (note how I did not say all) gamers consider a trademark of the games, kind of like a unique selling proposition, then it should deliver in that department, no?
The Elder Scrolls titles are well known for huge and graphically astounding worlds. It's a trademark of the series. Many fans would not be happy at all if Bethesda went Spiderweb graphics and made a tiny world map to boot.
Likewise, it is certainly disappointing for many fans if PB VO does not live up to expectations. It is part of the games' typical PB charm to have full VO for the hero and all dialogues in the game.
Additionally, at least for the German version, they have usually paid a lot of attention to consistency. Eldric being voiced by a new guy (and a bad one at that, who sounded like a young guy trying to sound like an old guy… very forced and fake) was quite a shock to many fans of the Risen series.
That's why one should not dismiss quality VO as a negligible part of a PB game. I can pretty much guarantee you that the series would lose even more fans if it would keep on dropping more trademark features.

BTW on RPGWatch forums there were topic about RPG definiton and what is important for RPGs etc. I dont think VOs has so big status there.

I'm overlooking something, I'm blind and retarded?
First this:

I am the author, I'm the one who did it all by himself and have listed everything I could find. Everything. Of course I probably missed a glitch or two somewhere. That's why betatesting is never done by one person. But most of bugs I did detect noone didn't even see.
That's a broken game? My arse. Compared to such list made for Skyrim (not by me as so much bugs can't possibly be numbered on my poor machine - I don't have enough space on HDD for that), RC looks almost bugfree game.
Second, I ignore Risen bugs? Hell I do. Again - the author is me. Imagine that:

Third, I've definetly had enough of your idiocy and do not need to read that bullshit anymore.
Starting now, you're on my ignorelist.
I hope you'll enjoy this company:

It's funny. Voice overs, in my opinion, are not needed in a game. My ideal system is a voice system like Morrowind, where the greetings and certain things are voiced and the rest is text.
However, when it comes to games like Gothic, Gothic II, Risen, etc., a lot of the charm, immersiveness and atmosphere of those games DOES come from the excellent (and quirky) voice acting.
Gothic II, for example, which is very fresh in my mind as I'm playing it now - that game benefits a HUGE amount by the awesome voice acting. It adds such playful character and life to the game, that imagining that game without voice acting, I feel it would be a much less interesting experience.
So, when it comes to PB games, I definitely think voice acting is an important part in their games. I haven't played Risen 3 so I have no comment on the quality of voice acting present in that game, but I highly doubt I would dislike it, as every other game from PB has had excellent voice acting (that, and I'm able to look past what most consider poor or bad voice acting and just enjoy it for what it is).

@FarFlame: I completely agree with regard to RPGs in general and I'm well aware that many RPG players don't generally consider full VO all that important, but would a Piranha Bytes RPG still be a Piranha Bytes RPG if you took out all the VO?
I don't know how to compare this… let's say you have fans of action movies and fans of James Bond movies. Both are in the action film genre but James Bond films, aside from having James Bond in them naturally, have always had a certain charm and certain "unique" features (like the gadgets, Bond girl etc.) that the fans of the series have come to expect.
Many fans of action movies might say that gadgets or female sidekicks are not that important to them in general but many will also agree that a Bond flick just must have them.
That's why I believe that a trademark feature like full VO of a certain (high!) quality level is a must-have for many fans of PB games. If a game does have full VO at all, then it better be done in decent quality, too, right?
