Spoiler – No …
I feel bad about it, but I can't unsee what I've seen, right?I still don't quite understand how I would have ever came to the answer of this question, though. Especially when one of the ancient texts directly answers the question. Very strange. Maybe I missed some vital piece of information somewhere? Can you explain this in a spoiler tab?

I don't exactly remember what's in the game, but to be honest, I thought I knew the answer as well when I played the game and I ended up looking at spoilers

Weird. You would think the answer wouldn't be so absolutely abstract. I'm going to have to figure out how people first discovered the answer to this question as normal players without spoilers. There was absolutely no clues pointing in this direction, and the ancient text directly went against this answer. Strange stuff.
I love this element of the quest but I don't like that the answer is so downright bizarre and can't be logically reached by playing the game or reading the clues. Maybe I'm missing some information or something. I must be.
Thanks for your help, Pladio! Back to G2 I go.

Just wrapped up the expansion and thought I would post my thoughts on it for anyone who is interested! Here you are.
Great game so far. I wrote an article on the Gothic series that should be posted soon. If you guys have spare time, feel free to check out my Let's Play I'm currently doing. All these adventures are captured on camera with commentary.

"I don't know" is the answer because anyone from the caste you're claiming to be from could not have been there.

A few years ago I started a thread that got derailed almost from the beginning about innovations that some games introduce and that you would like to see other gamemakers emulate
On the top of my list was how you solve fights in gothic between humans (in 3 orcs as well)
That you don´t kill each other unless you really want to and if you do there are probably consequenses
It is a thing I really miss in the risen games

I think it will just take a new, brave thinker to take the design ideas of Gothic and modernize it a bit for a new audience.
I know if I were to design an open-world RPG, it would most definitely be a Gothic-style game, with the heavy choice-and-consequence gameplay, along with multiple factions and especially the hand-crafted world-building aspect.
Throw in a polished first-person view, a world the size of Morrowind (yet delicately hand-crafted like either Gothic or Gothic II's world), more NPCs (with full schedules, day and night routines, etc.), rare items (hidden plants in obscure places, rare treasures), etc. Keep the good aspects of Gothic II, like the non-scaled world, static loot system, etc, and add a bit of Neverwinter Nights RTwP combat (in first-person, with possible companions), and you'd have an amazing amalgam of an RPG to play with. Oh, and lots of skills like Gothic 2 and Morrowind had a baby together.
I will design this game one day, hopefully.

The unwashed masses clearly can't handle Gothic. It's a niche thing. I liked Risen until they got all piratey. Still haven't tried 2 or 3. I wish pb would return to roots.

So I'm heading back to G2 soon after taking a little break after beating the expansion content. I have the game running very smoothly at 60 FPS, even with increased view distance to 3000% (10x the normal maximum). It looks great and is performing very well. If interested, you can read how I got it working well by checking out my Gothic 2 Retrospective thread in the News section. I outlined later in that thread as to how I got the game running smoothly.

Risen 2 is a great game, Todd. I thoroughly enjoyed my 60 hours of time with it. It actually left me feeling like I wanted more! I thought it was too short, but still a great romp through a detailed pirate land. Definitely recommend it.
