You asked for an answer, you got an answer. If you want an answer to something else, then ask for that in the first place and save time

To me, AoD looks like a CRPG.
That said, I certainly feel more free and unrestricted in games like Skyrim - where my actions don't feel dictated by pre-written sentences in a dialogue tree.

Sounds like 6-12 months to my jaded ears.
The cities take an enormous amount of time because there are parallel, interwoven questlines (scripting those is a bitch), themes (conflicts and such), factions, a lot of npcs, side quests, etc. Plus with Ganezzar we had to handle 'siege/no siege' and Maadoran/House Aurelian is destroyed scenarios.
What's left is the temple you were asked to find (the final location) and two locations leading to it (you can go through one or the other).
The temple has one NPC, Hellgate has one NPC, and Dead River has a small settlement (3-4 NPCs you can talk to). Compared to Ganezzar, it's nothing.

I'm not interested in AoD because I prefer playing casters and there aren't any. I'm hoping that it is successful and Vince decides to try a typical fantasy next time

Whether it's 6 or 12 months, I think the game will have an eager audience ready to receive it with joy
