I don't think it's the hardcore fans as much as it's the people who aren't huge fans of The Witcher and CDP in general. They're using this as an opportunity to lay down some "I told you so" type rants.
They could announce 100 pieces of DLC and it still wouldn't affect me as far as purchasing TW3 early. I would simply ignore the DLC because I'm confident the base game is going to be exceptional.
