Witcher 3 - Top 5 Most Anticipated Features
April 10th, 2015, 09:01
Well if your in the mood to read another top five list for the features in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt then head on over to a site called GotGame who has a new article week.
In a few weeks, after numerous delays, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will finally hit the shelves. The final installment of CD Projekt Red’s Witcher franchise looks like it will be a fantastic, transcendent and immersive role-playing game experience unlike anything that has ever been seen or played. All the materials and videos released by CD Projekt Red definitely whet my appetite for the game. With the release coming right around the corner, I want to take a look at the features I am most excited about for the game’s pending release.More information.

That was a lame list. I was hoping for small, innovative tidbits that had not been talked about much yet. Instead, it's a generic list of boring stuff you could think up without clicking the article link.

No problem, it was my pleasure to complain about the quality of the posted article!

If you thought the open-world sandbox of The Witcher 2 was bigAfter reading that, I have the impression that the guy who wrote that article never played The Witcher 2…
—————————-
My top 5:
Integration of the open-world vs the strong narrative: I can't wait to see they get it to work well or the game turns into a Skyrim-wannabe or despite the large map you are limited to where you are going by the narrative.
Oxenfurt/Novigrad: The very large cities. Novigrad in last year gameplay was HUGE, let see if that makes for good gameplay…I just hope they toned down the sewers monsters. bleh.
The new skill system: All I've read about it is that will be like arranging strands of DNA. Probably a translation issue, lol. Still, we have to activate skills this time around (aka put them in an active slot). There is also light, medium and heavy armor now, but I doubt we have skills related to those. Basically, I can't wait to see if the system allow for diversity or everyone just end-up with the same 12 skills and 4 mutagens activated.
PC controls: The Witcher 2, despite releasing on PC first, was rather consolized, lets hope The Witcher 3 is and improvement.
Interactivity: Devs talked about Geralt being able to pickpocket, swim, use a boat, climb stuff without specific spot like in the second game, etc. If I can climb at the top of Novigrad highest building I will be happy (I have a thing with climbing buildings in video games ok).

I'm not sure it qualifies as a feature, but I'm very keen to explore a new huge and beautiful open world with a powerful narrative intact, if that's even possible. CDPR claims it is, and they didn't disappoint with TW2.

If it really works I hope it'll be an inspiring example for future RPGs.

It should play well with a gamepad - the armor inventory in the trailer is not horrible circle roller like in Risen 3 and Dragon Age 3 but a proper thing that should feel equally good and easy to manage on any controls!
Seems that developers respected the audience in at least that part.
For other stuff like underwater diving, we'll have to wait an see how does that work on different input. Will camera automatically follow your face if using a controller or will let you point it into any direction somehow like it's usually done if on m+k, noone can know yet.
