Default Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Jensen's Redemption

April 29th, 2015, 16:23
GameInformer released a new video from their month long coverage of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided that talks about Jensen's quest for redemption in the new game.

Adam Jensen is a man surrounded by conflict. After he failed to protect the world from chaos in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, governments and freedom fighters collide over the human rights of mechanically augmented citizens.

Executive narrative director Mary DeMarle (Myst III: Exile, Deus Ex: Human Revolution) explains how Jensen has changed since the last time we saw him, embracing what he has become.

Warning: Contains spoilers for Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
More information.

Redemption for what? It isn't like he was the guy behind most anything of the bad stuff going down in the first game, and even when he made his choice in the end most of those were some kinds of attempts to fixing things.

Its called tragic hero Syndrome. I believe it even has its own trope page.
The tragic hero has to be a man “who is not eminently good and just, whose misfortune is brought about not by vice or depravity, but by some error or frailty.” The hero is thus characterized as virtuous but not "eminently good," suggesting a noble or important personage who is upstanding and morally inclined and yet nonetheless subject to human error.

Well, yeah, but what in the last game could've been a bad choice that'd cause him to feel the need for redemption? Or are they more thinking along the lines of "just look at all the bosses I killed to get here"?
