Witcher 3 - A Beginner’s Guide To The World Of The Witcher
Witcher 3 - A Beginner’s Guide To The World Of The Witcher
May 15th, 2015, 00:33
Kotaku has posted a primer on the world of The Witcher for newcomers to the series. I never got more than twenty minutes into the first Witcher game, but Wild Hunt has me hyped, so I think I'm going to need to consult this fairly often.

Anyway, it turns out that:

Anyway, it turns out that:
A “Witcher” doesn’t actually have that much to do with witches. Rather, Witchers are a rare breed of genetically mutated monster-killer. They were born as ordinary humans, and were taken in at a young age and more or less forced to undergo years of intense mental and physical training before eventually undergoing a mysterious ritual known as The Trial of the Grasses.Hey wait a minute. This sounds an awful lot like the Joining ritual in Dragon Age. Is David Gaider a big notion-snatcher? Hm.
During the Trial of the Grasses, potential Witchers imbibe a mysterious alchemical concoction that mutates their genes and makes them more dangerous and harder to kill than ordinary men. The Trial kills the majority of those who attempt it—six or seven out of ten candidates die in the process.

LOL nah Gaider is not a snatcher, such sort of trial happens in plenty of books and if you think about it, it's not an idea where you'd say OMG I could have never imagined something like this. It's pretty common.
I wanted to say… Because of the reason I've written in another thread, I can't be anyhow objective on TW3 any more.
I still believe there is no reason to whine over something before we see it (PC release version), but the fact is that CDpr just bought me with a mere song. This means exactly what you suspect - even if a better game appears at the market this year (which I seriously doubt) my GOTY vote belongs to TW3.
Sorry about that.
Thus I'll try to keep my comments out of future TW3 discussions and will add only info, links or pics.

Hey wait a minute. This sounds an awful lot like the Joining ritual in Dragon AgeDoes it? Well maybe bioware should stop reading the Wticher books.

I can change almost anything… but I can't change human nature.

The first Witcher short story came out in 1986 and the first Witcher video game came out in 2007, two years before Dragon Age: Origins.
David Gaider got his ¨inspiration¨ from the Witcher for the Grey Wardens’ Trial and the status of elves as an oppressed minority.
Still, both are amazing worlds with a very rich lore.
