What Faction Did You Pick and Why?

Now I'm interested, what's the backdoor, cause I was getting worried about no group accepting me.

Yeah, apparently another group will sponsor you. But I was afraid of the same thing.

I'm playing an Aedyr Noble Wizard so I was always going to go for the legit authority in the city the Crucible Knights. My character is slightly pro-animancy but hesitated on their quest line until forced to go along with them (negative rep with the others).

I'll end up picking the most rightous one, not sure which one that is yet.

House Doemenal reacted negatively to a choice I made before even arriving at Defiance Bay. Thus, my rather belligerent response was to storm their hideout and wipe every hostile out in plain sight from the place.
I was thinking the game would react quite interestingly/violently to this decidedly vicious choice yet unfortunately, other than sending assassins from some unknown location (how? The leadership is dead!) nothing yet has really occurred. Perhaps this will change when I return next time though I can't say I'm that impressed with the faction C&C so far.
I went with the Knights; seemed logical for my character, the sentiment being to restore their respect and make them more reconcilable to the public. I'll go with the Dozens next time.

I actually got burned bad by this question. My paladin isn't a big fan of animancy but she sure isn't about to support the mob or the slime family. She took the quest from the Knights but..
Unfortunately, that left me wandering around the world trying to figure out what I was supposed to do next. I eventually found a walk-through and read that, since I had ticked off the other two factions already, I had to either do the quest or suddenly do something like attack the Knights out of the blue to alienate them. None fit my character at all. Arg. But I guess that's the trouble with computer games - they can only account for the character types the developers code for. So I went for the option which gave the most XP.

Started out with the Knights of the Crucible, switched to the Dozens when I found out about the trade in stolen souls behind the Forge Knights.
Yeah, the Dozens are idiots, but as such I was pretty confident that I could take them in hand -- which worked okay up until the assassination
In my second game I want to find out a little more about the Doemenels. My Cipher just thought they were crooks and made enemies of them right away, but I'm sure like the other two factions there's a couple more layers to them that I never got to see, since they went to "kill on sight" after our first meeting.

I joined for the knights simply because they seemed like the most realiable and most progressive thinking bunch. Animancy research has dangers for sure, but the alternative is closing eyes and walking in the dark.
Besides it wasn't really a choise when the alternative seemed to be helping the local crime syndicate to gain even more power or stepping in the ranks of angry mob full of religious zealots. I can sympathize what many dozen members have gone through, but they're just backwards thinking and it doesn't justify the opression of every animancer out there. And after what happened in the main story… well i'm glad I did not choose their side.
I may check out the House Doemenel next time though. I have a gut feeling that there are more layers there.
