Treasure Adventure Game was a ton of fun. It's kind of like Metroidvania meets Windwaker. Awesome soundtrack too.

Might look more at the list but I saw alot of F2P games in the first entries, in my book those aren't really free.

Been ages since I played battle of wesnoth last time I did it was awesome though, might try that again.

Darkwind: War on Wheels is a good F2P game. I'm not down with the multiplayer-only -- and, sure, the name isn't as cool as Super House of Dead Ninjas -- but the core game mechanics are pretty awesome. Shame there's no real single player. No one wants to write AI anymore. Easier to write a MP lobby, I guess.

Edit: For the first time in years on this forum, I wanted to put a :shrug: smilie at the end of my post. Strange it happened in this thread. Perhaps I'm highly suggestible.
