Witcher 3 - Review @ GameBanshee

GameBanshee likes the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, too:
IntroductionMore information.
I have never been as glad to eat crow as I am now, as I write this review for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the threequel that puts the cap on the videogame saga of Geralt of Rivia, the monster slayer originally created by renowned Polish fantasy author Andrzej Sapkwoski.
Back in March of 2013, when the title was announced as an open-world game, I immediately lowered my expectations. As talented as the folks of CD Projekt RED are, open-world games tend to be massive undertakings that require sacrifices compared to more linear titles. The bigger they are, the bigger the sacrifices, and The Witcher 3 promised to be a very, very big title.
In my mind there were two, very likely possibilities: The Witcher 3 would come out as either a massively unpolished, nigh-unfinished title, CD Projekt's own Gothic 3, or as a game that sacrificed the focus on storytelling and quest design of the first two in favor of cookie-cutter, easy-to-design quests.
And yet, somehow, CD Projekt has managed to pull it off. A few small sacrifices might have been made along the road, yes, but this is still a Witcher title through and through, only on a massive scale that rivals big AAA productions. And it's very, very good.

I have to say this is my favorite RPG at the moment. The quests and exploring the world to reveal those various locations is rather enjoyable. Killing some bandits and those pesky crossbow men is icing on the cake. Im running this with an I5-750 Processer and GTX 670 card too. The game looks sweet :-)

This is one of those RPGs that you wish you could re-live your first playthrough again and again… I feel that in my bones.

It seems too easy to "over-level"? I have done quite a few side-quests/contracts so I am now about 2-3 levels above recommended. I have switched to the next harder mode (I was playing on normal) but it still seems like I am too powerful (and I havn't even munchkinized my character). I find myself constantly trying to clear my quest backlog, by getting rid of easier, low XP quest first to try and avoid getting too much more XP… I hate having unfinished quests in my jounal. I guess this is because they haven't done any kind of level scaling? Or do they? I siply can't avoid exploring on my way to a goal….I think the XP structure in the game is posisbly my one and only realy gripe. I think its too leasy to level up. I'm level 19 which is very far from the cap of course, and I am now in stage 3 (Skellige)…so I ave to avcoid aby side quests/constracts if I am trying to target the 'correct" level?

2 or 3 (or even 4) above recommended level is nothing to worry about. And you will be overleveled on some quests whatever you do. Starting Skellige at level 19-20 sounds just about right to me.
