Grimoire - Indiegogo Update
June 19th, 2015, 06:26
I heard he's going to do a fundme campaign to get the $5k he needs to pay for the internet connection he needs to upload the game to Steam. As soon as he gets that money he'll be able to put it in Steam EA!

Hahaha all the ones who doubted the game are going to be really embarrassed real soon when it releases on Steam. Grimoire will take all those gimmicky indie games and swallow them whole.
I have doubts about the release of the game, based on it's history, which I think is justified. If it ever gets released, I will be pleasantly surprised. I will certainly not be embarassed.
Btw, what do people think of his greenlight presentation which according to https://grimdarkly.wordpress.com/201…ight-imminent/ (kindly quoted by hhr) was to be submitted nearly two months ago?

I am staggered that anyone is convinced by anything that this mentally ill man says. Apart from promising something he has consistently not delivered, he seems obsessed with a wide array of racist and sexist garbage. And lets all not forget that Cleveland is apparently so aggravating that there is a damn NPC in Jagged Alliance 2 dedicated to his dickishness. And the stalker level sexist abuse he pasted all over Brenda Romero's kickstarter? Dudes whole life seems like a cry for help

As for the game itself, the demo was sort of interesting - even if horribly clunky and outdated. Impressive for one man's work. Well, if you ignore how long it took to create.
I'll probably spend an hour in fascination if the game ever gets released.
Nothing will be more amusing than the tiny portion of delusional fans trying to make it into some kind of masterpiece

Steam Greenlight. Good luck with that. He does realise that he doesn't actually get any money unless the game is actually released on early access, and people buy it right?

He has actually been on point for the last year… pushing back the release date, but the fact is he's steadily killing bugs both real, imaginary and code-related. I'll throw some cash at it, if just to have the insane wizardry-like it seems to be.

Played the original demo and thought it was very good indeed. There is a strange contradiction between the somewhat eccentric posting and the actual game, where the writing and balance is pretty good. Cleve is clearly in love with DW Bradley's Wiz 6-7.
For me it doesn't matter that the graphics technology and animations are somewhat outdated, what matters is that it isn't fuzzy and eye straining on current monitors and the demos are fine ITR, the only compromise being that it is made on the old aspect ratio.
One thing that one should appreciate is that if the game does release in a form as playable as the demos, it will be a pretty major achievement. Everyone here should know by now, from Kickstarter, just how hard and expensive it is to make decent games and Cleve is not the first person to wildly under estimate timings - everyone does it
. And 17 man years (plus whatever help he got) is actually not a huge amount for making a game of this size, where Cleve is doing absolutely everything.
As to whether it will actually release, I can't tell, but given the demos, I think it will eventually: like 60%-70%… How soon? Probably noone, including Cleve, knows when.

Here is one of his blogs: http://vault-co.blogspot.com/
Unfortunately, he does seem to be prioritising the completion of VaultOS, which is the software we will need to survive the imminent apocalypse.
Here are some more of his writings. I think you can see why he is so warmly embraced by certain members. He may very well be one or two of our members.

Early Access would be a good compromise. He could continue to gain money for his product while forever working on it and people who ponied up could actually play it.

I'm pretty sure Steam never intended for early access games to take fifty years to be playable, so he'd be disqualified.

Although there's something to be said for his tenacity, I'll continue to treat Cleve's game as little more than vaporware until it's fully released.

Not really sure how this is news. With the exception of the Steam mention, it's basically identical to every other update he's made over the last 20 years.

Some people should really get off their high horse and enjoy a great game on its own merits. I'll happily buy it on Steam when it's made available there.

No, I dont know much about Rational Wiki, and it doesn't look like a very high quality site, either. You can ignore their commentary, but they do link to an entertaining selection of his batshit ravings, to give sense of what we're dealing with - if one hasn't had the pleasure.
I don't think anyone here would reject the game if it were released, and turns out to be any good. I think the valid point is that there is little reason to believe someone who has given so many broken promises, and is either delusional, or entertaining himself at other's expense, in a very perverse manner.
At the very least, I think it was worth pointing out that he is currently claiming to be working on his VaultOS - a piece of software to help manage inventory in one's post-apocalyptic survival bunker. I'm not convinced that asset-tracking would be a top priority in that scenario, but he has sworn to publish it this year, "if it is the last thing I ever do."

Grimoire has been promising that it will be released in just a few months once those last couple of bugs are corrected for 20 years. You can't compare it to a game like Age of Decadence which was slow, but honest about where they were in the development cycle.
I remember there was a point at which RPGWatch moderators agreed not to post any more news about Grimoire until it was actually released.
