Hmmm… now you have me intrigued Off to Youtube.

edit: you're referring to the HoloLens stuff? It's interesting tech but it's not really appropriate for Minecraft in my opinion - more of a gimmick you try a couple times and then forget about. That is, unless they come out with voxel shaping tools as well for people to terraform lands. That's the one real use I could envision for the demoed tech in MC.

The hololens does not work like they try to make it look though. What it basically does is that it overlays an image on top of what a camera sees, and shows it on a head-mounted screen. Imagine what the AR-cards on the 3DS does, but headmounted, and without the need for a specific focus point (in this care the cards). And the AR-bit is only shown in the middle of the screen, you get no peripheral vision with this thing, anything that is not in this small middle of the screen square is not there. This makes the whole E3 presentation downright dishonest, as it tries to show the hololens doing something that it is quite simply not able to do.

The thing that does make the piece of tech interesting though is the fact that it can "read" the environment. It can tell the distance to objects around you, and thus show things on the screen which makes it look like a 3D object is interacting with the real world. That is, until the object is no longer in the center of the screen, at which point it disappears.

Well, I did have some doubts… but the way they filmed it is really cool
