I prefer the choice personally rather than being led by the nose.

Anyone else leveling too fast? (I'm a slow player, don't get much time to play these days) I'm working through the Baron quest and am now at level 9, finishing quests for level 6. And I left plenty of stuff untouched on the first map.

Yeah, I just finished the Baron quest at level 11 and have lots of quests open and have only covered half the map, if that. I'm trying to finish the last level 6 quests before I hit level 12 (and no XP).

While I went to level 100 with any skill in Skyrim during just 1 hour of game, I needed 150 hours to reach level 35 in TW3.
Even worse example, I hit level cap in Fallout 3 after about 20 hours of game because of grind on retarded endless trashmob respawns and I didn't even scratch the story.
However, I do know that forcing just the main story and ignoring sidecontent will take you near level 30 during 20 hours of TW3 as only main quests reward the player with a huge chunk of XP.
Basically comes to this:
Fastrunners will have fastlevelling. Explorers - won't.
It's only your choice how to play the game.
This game IMO should have been titled Choices and Consequences. Because if you strip out everything else, goods and bads, it excells in c&c department as it's not just storywise.

Really enjoying the game. But I find myself chasing quests because I started outlevveling them without even trying (AKA roleplaying). It's a nitpick, but with all the huge amount of XP available, they should have scaled the MQ at least a little.

Well, as joxer have said, start doing secondary quests now until you hit level 18 (+/-1) when you will be ready to move on to Skellige. And don't worry if some Witcher contracts and treasure hunts will go gray on you since they are really there not for xp but for money, schematics, gear and loot.
Be aware that there is a couple (thankfully only a couple) of secondary quests (Following the Thread and Black Pearl) which are very strangely placed level wise. You can resolve them in any way you like but it won't be a disaster if you let them go gray on you as well
