Ofcourse you're not completly off track here. Poland is indeed one of the most Catholic nations in Europe still. I belive it is right there with Italy and Malta in statistics. However in reality I think an average polish man, in particular a young urban man is not very religious. He is likely to be belong to church, but is he a practising Catholic ? I doubt that.
What I've read about this from newspapers over the years I have come to a conclusion that church is losing it's influence slightly every year even in Poland which has traditionally been one of the strongest supporters of catholic faith.
Like for example this news article from 2010
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/12/wo…/12poland.html
A snippet from this article.
…“We are considered the European museum of Catholicism, but let me tell you we are no longer,” said Szymon Holownia, program director for Religia TV, a relatively new station that aims to convince Poles that faith can and should be relevant in modern life with programs like a cooking show led by a nun. “The relationship between faith and state is changing; it is changing dramatically in Poland,” Mr. Holownia said. “It is really huge.”
“Twenty years of freedom and religion is evaporating,” he said. “This is the crisis of Christianity in Poland.”
Church supporters said the trend was evident in the numbers: 95 percent of Poles identify themselves as Catholic, but only 41 percent attend Sunday Mass regularly. In the big cities of Warsaw and Krakow, only about 20 percent attend Mass regularly on Sundays, according to the Institute of Statistics of the Church. Supporters of the church also said that the numbers dropped far below the 41 percent when it came to accepting moral mandates about issues like divorce and in vitro fertilization, both of which the church opposes and a majority of people appear to support.
“It seems we are Catholics in a cultural way; we identify as Catholic, but do not attend church,” said Tomasz Terlikowski, editor of Fronda, a conservative Catholic magazine, who said he was upset with what he called the lack of effective church leadership against the secular tide."…

Poland is not ISIL.

2013 data: 60.08% (86.8% in 2001) Poles consider themselves "believers" (63% women and 37% men), 39.1% attends mass (46.2% in 2003) and 20.0% consider themselves "deeply religious".

Even if there are catholics there( in CDPR), I don't see any influence on their games…quite the contrary, with the Witcher "All is grey" morality.

Going to have to book mark this thread for future reference. Can't believe people getting into a romance discussion in a game. I thought most around here saw romances in a game as a waste of time and resources. I mean who needs any type of romance or sex in a game? Seriously - shouldn't they be focusing the patch on real bugs and issues? No one wants romances or sex in a game, they don't belong in our games.
Oh wait … this is different.

I also never said romances should be exterminated.
I just said either do them right or don't do them at all. And IMO, TW3 did it right considering what happened in the end of my chasing both Triss and Yen in my first playthrough. Can't wait to see what happens if I choose just one.
And who ever said no to sex in games? I don't remember anyone saying that. That'd be Fallout 1 / Fallout 2 hater and I don't think we have that kind here. Maybe on codex…

Hell yeah. Fallout II, is still a pinnacle of romantic video game escapades, if you ask me. The flirting with the farmer's daughter that proceeds to inevitable sex( unless your IQ was lower than a brahmin's) until her father catches you and escorts you to your wedding with a shot gun pointed at your back. And then taking the boys out for a night on the town at Cat's paw…ahh the memories.

There's even more to it. You can "romance" any of butcher's kids there, each leading to marriage and unwanted and useless NPC in your party. You can off that NPC yourself, let them be killed in encounters (as are pathetic) or - get divorced in New Reno. You get also divorced/separated perk.
Then there are brothels with not just… humans, then there is a possibility to get a certain mobster daughter pregnant, then there is a "bonus" for getting 10 Cat's Paw (pr0n) magazines to a certain spot, then there is a rubber doll quest leading to "the treasure", then there is armwrestling you shouldn't lose (in fact maybe should, maybe your hero is into it, besides you get a certain toy with description like "if you don't know what's this about, don't even ask"), then there is sexpert perk you get after "ploughing" everything you can, then you can film a pr0n movie and get pornstar perk, etc.
Hell, after numbering all this, just realized another content that lacked in Fallout 3! No wonder after they sorted crashes out I still didn't like the game much.
Here's hope Bethesda addresses this problem in FO4. Meanwhile, I'll be getting my romance/sex fix by chasing only Triss in my next TW3 replay.

Especially with Triss getting extra lines and, possibly, a scene or two!
