Legends of Eisenwald, can't put it down!

Chores are not being done, the trash is piling inside the house, my beard is about to touch the floor. I'm loving this game, so expansive, love the story, love the combat, love the maps (so big!). I've kickstarted some 30 games or so, including Pillars of Eternity and Divinity:Original Sin, and though I loved those games, I think the one I feel more satisfied of helping come to light is this one.

Now I know whom we should have given the review!
Thank you, really nice to hear these words.

So, have you been able to put it down, wolfing ?
This is the only game I regret not backing. I'll buy it when it gets on GOG.

Also enjoying this. Have been playing nonstop since Friday. The combat is pretty fluid and quite good once you understand the mechanics. Just have bit of a problem following the story as I struggle to remember the German names of the characters.

Most German names we used have a meaning. Kuestenkauz is for example a coast owl, which is fitting for a caper. Grauschild is grey shield and he tells a story about where he got his name from. And so most others have their "speaking" names too.

I have a question that would be a spoiler for anyone who isn't playing-
After the first area the game screwed me and took away all my troops and items I bought, and I figured, fine, no big deal, it was the intro area.
Then, they did it to me again after the second area. Stuck it right up my butt, and took all my items away, all my people away, and all the gold I spent on items and people. I worked my ass off not hiring mercenaries and grinding my party up and equipping them, and all I got for it is big dick shoved right in my pooper. No warning, no lubricant, no condom. Just a big, veiny penis rammed right in real good with anal tearing and bleeding, the whole nine yards.
Does the game keep doing this, or after the second area is my bum safe from the rapings?
Also, why did my character just run away like a little pansy? I don't run. I laugh in the face of death. Also, why? Why the rapings with no warning or foreshadowing, anything? For the love of God, why?

Spoilers!!!
The first map is a tutorial, it will be skippable soon. The second map is - you go to the funeral, alone, and then you have to run. How much more of a warning is needed here? In the future you will be able to take a few troops with you.
This is done pretty much because of a balance and it is similar in some other games like Disciples 2 for example. If we let you keep the troops, there won't be any challenge for you starting probably chapter 4.

In Disciples 2 (I never heard of it) do you work to get money and then spend a ton of money on items and then the game steals the items from you? Also, if you made chapter 4 harder, wouldn't it not be too easy for me if I kept my troops?

Disciples 2 does the same thing, both gold and artefacts are getting removed, you get to keep only a few ones. We can't make chapter 4 harders since there are only 5 tiers of units and by chapter 4 you would end up with top units and your army would be stronger than any computer army on the map. And since chapter 4 you won't get to experience any upgrades.

People keep confusing this with RPGs. This is a tactical game first and foremost. Each chapter is a new scenario. Think like Might & Magic Heroes where each new scenario in a campaign has only you (and some set artifact pieces) carry over from the previous scenario. In LoE just don't get attached to your companions, they're just tools for you to use in each map. You can only safely carry what you can wear and some special artifacts. In some scenarios you can carry over some of your companions.

My confusion stems from this thread where I asked if it was a real rpg or if it was like HoMM.

It's not really like HoMM since there is not much strategy here either. The accurate description could be something like this: an adventure game with tactical combat and RPG and strategy elements. I always thought King's Bounty was a proper RPG but I guess not many people take KB for one.

It's a brave man who compares their game to King's Bounty! Lol.
Perhaps I'm mistaken, perhaps I should have re-researched before I posted, but, as far as I'm aware King's Bounty is closer to an RPG than any of the Heroes for Might and Magic games, mainly because KB is a continuous adventure for the entire game where as with the HoMM games, and yours(?), the world kinda-resets after each level -which then puts it more into the episodic Tactics/Strategy camp of gaming but with enough RPG elements to warrant much interest from dedicated RPGers.
People who don't count KB as an RPG are most likely opinion extremists, the kind of dullards who think an opinion is greater than a collection of objective facts. Plansescape, for example, is an RPG/Adventure game hybrid, but that doesn't get it's "is it an RPG?" position questioned to the extent that someone might find themselves questioning the RPGness of King's Bounty which is an RPG/Tactics hybrid.

Out game then is as much RPG as KB. Why? In KB you only have your hero and the army is disposable. Same here - you have your hero, a few followers and army sometimes (not always!) gets left behind. Dragons, elves, orcs etc. in KB in your army have no names and you can't equip them, in our game they have names, equipment and if personalization is turned on, they have their own a bit different statistics.
I love King's Bounty, just got tired of the combat there. Many reviews, especially in Russia, compared our game to KB which I don't take as a bad thing since the two biggest inspiration for Legends of Eisenwald is Disciples 2 and KB.

That's what I meant by comparing this game to Heroes of Might & Magic, in the way that after each scenario in a campaign you leave your troops behind and you only keep your own character advancement and some special items.

It's next on my list after I've finally finished TW3. And as I like RPGs and TBS and so don't care if LoE is this or that, I'm really looking forward to it!

I think we were just discussing the best way to promote it. Promoting it as HoMM-Campaign-like would probably get more interest than promoting it as KB-like, or, even better, a good mix of the two with some Disciples thrown in for good measure. HoMM is a more recognised franchise in the western world.
