I did until my save game got corrupted. Never got far on the main quest; just did guild quests. Need to try it again.

I spent weeks just playing the demo. I was actually afraid of getting the full game because I didn't want my social life to completely disappear.

Does DaggerXL make any progress? It's kinda hard to find something on that other than its download.

DaggerXL has indeed gone silent. It has however been superseded by Daggerfall Workshop

I have not played this game but I wish some modders will remake this into Skyrim engine rather than try to port Oblivion etc

Like Thrasher I ignored the main quest and just focused on the guild quests. I remember getting lost in the mines - the maps were so confusing. I particularly liked the listen skill which saved me many times. Hiding from vampires early in the game was critical.
A HD version would be nice - one can dream.

Great game back in the day. I tried to play it again last year but it has not aged well. Just trying to find quest givers and people in cities was a major pain. I won't even go into the combat
But what open world goodness this game was.

Loved Daggerfall. Played it everyday, computer would always lock up playing it though. Full of bugs; but enjoyed it anyway

I loved the crazy twisty turny 3-d dungeons, but after a while they did get predictable.

I had just sold a ton of Magic cards and bought a new computer with the money. Even before my computer arrived I had picked up Daggerfall. One of the few games I ran into alot of bugs so never got far in it. I eventually threw away the game in disgust.

Interesting how many Bethesda tropes were in there already, like level scaling and defining your character based on questions.

Also playing Daggerfall today simply isn't the same as playing it when released. Even if it were updated with completely modern graphics there still wouldn't be the awe and amazement at the world the technology made possible.
It's like being there to play some of the first 3D games on PC with 3D hardware, even if those games were remade today there wouldn't be that excitement regardless of how good the remakes were.
If you didn't play Daggerfall when it was new, you missed out on something, permanently.
