Mad Max
March 4th, 2015, 12:30
That Mad Max game finally got a release date: Sept 4 2015 for UK, Sept 1 for US.
It's a supposed "post-apocalyptic open world adventure with on-foot action and vehicular combat", which in theory sounds good, but information has been rather sparse. They apparently canned the PS3 and X360 versions though.
I'm curious to see how this one shapes up.
Source: Eurogamer and IGN.

I have low expectations but high hopes for this one.
I hope they all played Interstate '76 for car combat inspiration.

They've released some sort of "gameplay overview" trailer:

Honestly, I'm keeping my expectations low also, but it doesn't sound bad… Who knows, this might be somethin'.

Well, it looks pretty good. I like RPG-lite car and hero upgrades. But its mainstream game, so….
Possible good things:
- good and interesting world to explore, enough items to scavenge, famous elements from movies
- car upgrades
- good car combat
- meaningfull stealth approach when dealing with strong groups of enemies or missions in big camps
- few interesting NPCs
- side missions
- ? optional difficulty
Bad things Im afraid of:
- stupid and nonsensical Batman-style hand combat which wont be on par with Batman's combat but more likely subpar version… I know some ppl like this type of combat, but imho its nonsensical flashy charade for an eye (combos and brutal moves) with forced 1 vs 1 fights while other enemies stands there like total retards.
- very simple story
- simple side missions
- over-acted wannabe movie-like NPCs and dialogues with subpar writing
- upgrades have low impact on gameplay, especially hero upgrades
- unimportant and badly implemented survival (no water, gas will be easy to get because mainstream players want to ride cars anytime and dont care about survival…)

This could be a gem or a weak attempt at cashing in from a movie release. Farflame summed my worries and hopes up pretty well. I'm keeping my eyes on it though.

Nice. I'm being treated as if I was 30 years younger. I'll take this as an compliment.

New trailer, called "Savage Road":

If this game is anywhere as good and visceral as the movie, I'm in.
I wouldn't pre-order though, hold for reviews first.

@Alrik - just type the letters 'nsfw' before the word 'youtube' in the link, and it will open open the video in a site without the restriction.

Minimum Requirements:
People DO NOT buy this at release.
My inner alarm says another unoptimized garbage incoming. Maybe it's wrong, but after minimum requirements by Unity and Arkham Knight, these similar ones here smell fishy!
Minimum Requirements:

Processor: Intel Core i5-650, 3.2 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 965, 3.4 Ghz

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660ti (2 GB Memory or higher) or AMD Radeon HD 7870 (2 GB Memory or higher)

My inner alarm says another unoptimized garbage incoming.Possibly, though more than often I wonder if these "minimum" requirements aren't waved up a bit higher than they really need only as a kind of (shady) promotion… trying to play on players pavlovian reflex "high graphics requirements = great game".

Eh?
Raven's Cry has no performance problems nor are requirements bloated skyhigh like these on Mad Max.

The game not being super good was kinda a given with the 40% off for over a month on Greengaming.

Apparently they also released all four movies on Steam as well as the game. Already own the only two movies I will ever watch again, no interest in the game … so I guess I'm good
