Just keep in mind that SLI also means twice as much power consumption and heat, and it doesn't work correctly with some games.
Power Consumption:

980 - 171 Watt
980Ti - 250 Watt

My hairworks was Geralt only most of the time too. The only time it wasn't was when I knew a scene with one of the ladies was getting ready to fire. Then I'd turn it on for everyone.

I'm just having a bit of fun. I am surprised though how well the game runs on older hardware.

In any case I would make sure you buy a board which supports SLI.
So instead of replacing your 980ti when it becomes too slow, you can just add a second one.
.Besides, like JDR13 said, you would need a bigger PSU and I was targeting 700W, which I think is already more than necessary.

Also, you won't see any significant performance difference between 2400Mhz and 3000Mgz.

But you are going to buy a 980ti!
Do you really want to save like 20$ on Ram?
And we talked about futureproof. So you might consider buying a 980ti now and a proper board, PSU, and then, in 3 years when you think your pc is too slow you can add another 980ti (if they are still available then)
