In this GDC 2015 talk, BioWare's Neil Thompson tales a look at the inspiration behind the art direction of the company's acclaimed Dragon Age: Inquisition, including influences from film, photography and architecture, the need to stay true to an IP, and adoption of new systems / technologies to provide visual benchmarking on the "next gen" consoles.

Neil Thompson appears to be parroting / channeling Matt Goldman, the art director of DA2 and DA:I, who's been blathering about northern renaissance this and Kurosawa that since the pre-release hype of DA2 started.
Oddly enough, Matt Goldman, like Neil Thompson, is a bald, somewhat square-jawed guy. Weird.

By the way, it appears to be basically a repeat of an earlier lecture, I'm pretty sure I've seen Thompson (who seems to be sympathetic enough, BTW) saying the same things and showing the same stuff earlier.
