Nope. I don't think I have ever pre-ordered software, seen too many train wrecks… Unless you count KS. IMO pre-ordering is a mugs game. I sit on the fence and watch the dust settle. Gauge response. Wait some more for a GotY edition and then quite often wait for it to be on sale if it's not the best thing since sliced bread. For a Bethesda game by the time this comes around there'll be an unofficial patch to fix most of the bugs and lots of other goodies coming from the community. I've plenty of other games laying idle to keep me busy in the interim including FONV which I've been thinking about starting lately.

Preaching aside I hope it's another successful release for Bethesda. Warts and all I do like the games they make and unless there's something really wrong with this one I'll be happy to at least buy the GotY ed for full price.

I ordered the Steelbook-Edition from amazon.de

I did, it will be here tomorrow! Had to pay extra for it to be delivered on release day, but completely worth it (I hope )

Seems like I indeed was lucky.

Back then I tried to pre order a pip boy edition, missed the opportunity on amazon and then found it in the online catalogue of a random supermarket which isn't exactly big into games. So I write them an email to ask if they indeed have it, or if it's just a "dead entry" and sold out. They sent me some generic response like "if it is in our catalogue we have it". So I took the chance I preordered it.
I was quite surprised when I received the mail a couple of days ago that it is being shipped now…should receive it today hopefully

Does the pip-boy replica actually do anything?

From what I understood, it doesn't actually do anything by itself. You could however download an app for a mobile phone (also without owning the pipboy) and use this as companion app. The pipboy is designed so that you could put the mobile phone into it.

But as I don't even own a mobile phone for me it's more of a display value.
Also comes with a nice display rack.

The pip boy is cheap plastic trash meant for men and women who are well beyond the age to do so, but still like to play with toys. Mine should be waiting for me when I get home from work tomorrow.

It seems in some aspects I've really become an adult. *sigh*
