Sick of textures not loading properly or when close?
Here:
C:\Users\{YourNameHere}\Documents\My Games\Fallout4
open fallout4.ini
go to general
add the lines (these are double the default values - and they seem to work well for me):
iTextureUpgradeDistance1=2400
iTextureUpgradeDistance0=1200
iTextureDegradeDistance1=3000
iTextureDegradeDistance0=1600
----
I'm sure many of you already know this, but I just found out yesterday:
You can disable "dialogue camera" in the settings menu. Doh!
I hated the glitches associated with that awful camera.
---
Also, I can highly recommend a 30% opacity UI/Pipboy white hud (100% RGB) - as it's much less intrusive and you can still easily read what you need to.
---
I also found out that I could disable crosshairs in the same menu, and that helped my immersion even further!
That, along with the "immersive hud", makes the game a lot more… well… immersive to me.

The white pipboy also produces a nice white flashlight. Much better than the green.
I also went to a blue(ish) HUD which I like more than the default color.

Here is an article about a Fallout mod that shows full dialogue instead of the little blurbs. Gotta get this one if it isn't too buggy.

I think so, but it's pretty easy to just delete the lines if it can't

True. My problem is that once I get home, I just want to play. I've been forcing myself to take 5 minutes to look at the Nexus. There is almost always some mod I want to add. I'm running about 6 or 7 mods at the moment.

In case you don't already know, I forgot to mention that you can get a nice outdoors FPS boost by setting the Godray quality to "low".
Visually, I struggle to see the difference - but it did boost my performance nicely in areas with lots of trees and such.

Yeah, right after I turn off sounds in most games I drop the quality of all the video settings. I have a great rig but I don't care for all the clutter and junk that tends to come with the higher settings that are usually on by default.

If you want to exploit a duplication glitch to get max in all special stats, for example, there is this. Not that I used it, but infinite fusion cores would make life very easy.
Also apparently the gameplay is sped up by raising the fps limit. Maybe this explains how I get owned by a swarm of blood flies?
