Awesome. FF9 is a Final Fantasy game that I haven't spent enough time with.

This game really isn't that good to me. There is too much "nostalgic" stuff simply for nostalgia's sake and some scenes really drag on pointlessly for too long. I found the "canary" stuff pretty grating from my recollections. The last level is a huge disappointment in particular.

There are JRPGs with far better gameplay.

I wonder if that canary thing is actually some sort of mistranslation? It's just… weird. When I think canary, I think about them dying first when the air is bad in a cave. Not exactly the most romantic thing.
