Would love to see a sequel with the same atmosphere and combat but with more NPC interaction, dialogue and questing ala elderscrolls and witcher.
A pity they didn't give it a full graphical remaster.
I can only imagine how great a sequel would be if it was designed with PC as one of the release platforms.
Other than the writing and crafting that got a bit tedious after many hours, I found it to be a unique and amazing game that was wasted on my crappy ps3.

This game sort of reminds me of Demonicon, with better combat mechanics (that's an understatement) and better graphics.
Keep in mind, I've only played an hour. I was just trying to think of something it reminds me of. A few people mentioned Risen in that light. But it's nothing like Risen at all in my opinion. A lot of people also are comparing it to Dark Souls. That game… and I hear it was good on consoles, but when I bought it for PC, the controls were so bad it was just unplayable. Not sure about the successors to the game, haven't even tried them. I typically like games more for RPG elements than I like games for just being ridiculously difficult.

Been playing it and so far it's exactly how I like my games. There's a learning curve regarding combat and navigating the games menus; I use a gaming mouse and keyboard.. I could just plug in a 360 controller but I shouldn't have to. I overcame the combat curve by binding the combat stances to side mouse buttons, but that doesn't fix the menus. Other than that yeah, high-fantasy fun to be had here.
EDIT I caved and plugged in the 360 controller. Just works better.
I think it depends a lot on what you are used to. Since I always play games with K&M, except for driving games in which I have to use my Xbox style game pad, it feels natural I guess. But I wouldn't say this game has bad K&M controls.

How is that possible though? Afaik, the PS4 controller doesn't work in Windows without 3rd-party software.
When Capcom announced that PS4 controller will work right out of the box, I instantly pre-ordered the game. As this Gamespot article says:
"The announcement brings news that the game will support keyboard and mouse in addition to controllers, such as the Xbox One, Steam, and DualShock. Support for the DualShock 4 hasn't been consistent with PC games, but Capcom says it will work right out of the box."
It only ever "works" as in the game recognises something other than XBox 360/One controller is plugged in, and replaces all the face buttons with numbers. Highly confusing.

You can backup the save file manually if you fear corruption. It's in [path to]\Steam\userdata\[steamuserId]\367500\remote\
That's what would make me nervous. But there are tools that can automatically copy files to a different folder every x minutes, right? I would probably use one of those tools if I ever get to play this game.
It is a shame they did not include a quick/auto-save rotation though. Should be forced to be made a standard in every modern game, really.

^ A backup of save games is automatically done on the Steam cloud. That should serve your purpose?

Enjoying the heck out of this game so far… It pulls from a lot of different sources, but with the Capcom/Japanese touch, it ends up feeling quite unique. I'm loving storming the countryside with my gang of willing pawns. I can only imagine how cool a sequel would be on PC and new consoles. Maybe it'll happen <fingers crossed>

That's garbage design from inferior hardware where there was no enough storage to save 83745682347568735683256 games.
In this game however the reason are sidekicks that are shared online, so to avoid cheats… Who am I kidding. Like cheats can be avoided. For PC release, they should have enabled multiple savegames.

Ok pals, let me ask a question.
I could buy this for 10,99 € for my PS3 (english version) or 27,99 € for PC.
I expect the game to have some STEAM-bullshit coming along, so I'd have to find a way around that, while I hope that the PS3 version is ready2play from the box.
Which one should I buy?

Steam is out of question. It's not convenient, it's not easy to use, it's not simple and fast. It's terrible.Bothka:

It was a spelling mistake all along.

I have Dragon's Dogma for PS3 but have yet to get around to playing it. I loaned my PS3 out to a friend (who wanted to play it for Beyond Two Souls) as I had this rather unusual situation with it being stuck in HDMI mode. Once he's finished with that game (and hopefully a couple of the JRPG's I recommended to him…) perhaps then I'll be able to join in on the Dragon's Dogma discussion (without the dogmatics of course!
)
Even though the player didn't really get to experience the consequences of this, role-playing wise it was still something quite unique that I liked about Demonicon. Despite the god-awful repetitive combat, it had these unexpectedly original and unabashed moments in its writing that was genuinely surprising, bombastic yet amusing and fun. Twas the main draw that got me to see it to its conclusion.

To be honest, I'm pretty fed up in general at hearing this perpetual myth Dark Souls was unplayable on PC with mouse and keyboard or whatever nonsense. I think having spent over 300 hours with the game over multiple characters is sufficient evidence to counter that narrow line of thinking. Indeed, it can be done and it is entirely playable thank you very much. /rant off

The ideal solution is multiple save slots, i.e. autosave and a quicksave rotation so when you press 'F5' it saves to a certain predefined number of quicksave slots.
One save slot is crazy. Sure, you might be able to recover a working save from the Steam cloud but if you have played a few hours in the meantime your progress is gone.
Time is the most valuable resource to me. If a game wastes my time then we're at war, dropping bombs…

Not sure how DD works on PS3 but I know I needed ps+ ( additional $50) for multiplayer features for bloodborne on ps4. So you might want to check on that.

Unless the port is insult-o-rama. Like Neptunia games.
PC version of Dragon Dogma also addressed a few annoyances present in console version (sidekicks apparenty utterly irritating chatty, fasttravel issues and can't remember others check the FAQ on steam).
