Default Darkest Dungeon - Review @ Blogcritics

January 18th, 2016, 20:43
Blogcritics has reviewed Darkest Dungeon:

Darkest Dungeon is from a small developer called Red Hook and is a hard game to quantify; it is an RPG and a Dungeon Crawl; it is a Rogue-like and a psyche simulator; it is a also a revolutionary title that has to be played to truly understand how cool it can be. Red Hook has worked diligently on this title since 2012 with a small but dedicated team; a successful Kickstarter in 2014 helped fuel development and a strong launch in Steam Early Access gave them the audience and funds they need to continue. That is a very good thing because the game is compelling, addictive, and has a depth that makes coming back to this fun yet brutal game nearly compulsive.

[…]

Summary: Darkest Dungeon is tough and at times stressful but incredibly addictive to play due to brilliant mechanics and presentation.

Score: 4.5/5

Strange. This appears to be a review of the existing Early Access build, and not the full version at all. I mean, not much will probably change between now and tomorrow except the end-game (the Darkest Dungeon) being implemented, but I don't think it's very responsible to review a game you can't even complete and see all the way to the end.

They just wanted to be the one of the first 'official' reviews, considering the game goes live in a few hours.

You don't think it's "responsible"? 99% of game reviewers are getting paid nothing to write about games. Most aren't even getting a free copy to review.
