Capcom has ported the console game to PC and it's getting good reviews! Here's a place to discuss strategy, pi… <ahem> promote your pawn, and whatnot.

Gotta say, Brumbeks enthusiasm for it made me determined to go for a second play through……and I just can't. It's just too shallow and, combat aside, there's just not enough to keep me interested for a second time round.
And the amount of back-forth walking! 😠

So…. do male pawns actually exist? Other than the one I made?

Been playing this for a week and it is a lot of fun. Not sure how much I have left to do, just got to the Great Wall and cutting down naughty mages all over the place. There are several other threads here talking about this game.

I only saw the one regarding a specific technical issue. Plus News articles, of course.
I'm having trouble laying off the game! I've still got FF6 to get through but, honestly, this is just a lot more fun than the old sprites, even if the story isn't as good. I'm pushing level 20 already.
I'm wondering about class switching now. My main is a mage and my pawn is a fighter. Looking up the classes on the Wikia and… geez! There's a lot to pick from! I'm not real sure exactly what goes on when you switch classes, though. Do all your skills vanish, even ones that your old class has? So it's just about augments and stat gains?
The lack of being able to save to multiple slots is a real pain here. There's a potential to waste a ton of points on a class I don't end up liking much.

I actually finally saw one! One. A fighter with the same skills as my own main pawn. Arg.

It's a great game. At first I was ploughing through quests, hoping to get improved gear but not really seeing any good upgrades that way. Then I stomped around the lands beating up ogres and griffons and such hoping for good gear drops, didn't happen. So then I started just hitting chests and harvesting stuff and making my own gear/upgrades, and that has been way more effective. I won't get back into it until Monday, but I'm really looking forward to whatever awaits me in the Great Wall area, and praying that I've leveled enough to survive there!

Your skills DO vanish but not the ones that the two classes have in common. They also stay at the same level. For instance, I went from Mage to Sorc. I had the first level lightning and third level fire spell at the time, along with the heal spell and some others. When I switched, the heal spell vanished because sorcerers don't do healing. The fire spell stuck around and I could still use it at full power. The lightning stuck around, too, but because I was only a level 1 sorcerer I couldn't advance it until I gained levels. If I had first advanced the lightning THEN switched my class, I would have had a more advanced lightning power to use as a fledgling sorc.
Weapons switch, too, so be ready with a new one (or money for a new one) when you change over.
As I indicated, augments always stick around no matter what class you are.

So it seems going into the Duke's castle after dark is frowned upon? The quest giver told me to come back and get quests from him so I did and promptly got thrown in the dungeon by the first guard that noticed me!
Looks like QUITE a few miss-able quests in this game. This guide has helped me keep from missing out on too much.

Just peeked and OMG I can't remember any other game that locks off so many quests based on your progress.

Yeah I remember a few quests auto-failing as soon as I did the first escort quest to the big capitol city. I was annoyed at the time, but from what I could tell it really didn't have an impact on the rest of the game for me.

Finished, well the "first" ending, and I aught to go see the duke…get the feeling this won't be a cuddly reunion.
Pretty damn strange game…there are so many things that it is outright terrible at, and yet I like it for some reason.
This game has some really excellent and unique concepts though, so I'm hoping Capcom has something planned for future. Either a more focused, linear experience( something similar to Witcher II) or they'll need to Heavily invest if they want to make a competitor to TES/Witcher/etc.
Played all classes except for archer, fighter and warrior…assassin was the most fun for me.

Thing is it's fun, good simple fun. It just lacks a lot of depth, which becomes way more apparent when you attempt a second play through unfortunately.

What's the story on Bitterback Island's spawning? Whenever I try to walk back to the entrance I find lots of re-spawns but, when I go back in again, there's nothing until I get to the place I last went in??
