Morrowind - Multiplayer?
January 15th, 2016, 13:35
Morrowind is receiving multiple revivals. RPS gives us the latest on OpenMW, a project that seeks to import Morrowind into a new, modern open source engine and give the game multiplayer functionality.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind was released in 2002, but it’s on the verge of experiencing new life through multiple revival projects. One of those is OpenMW, which aims to port the game to a new open source engine optimised for modern computers, with robust editing tools, and as of the first early test shown in a video below, multiplayer.

Yeah, saw this earlier this week…
apparently this guy from Europe is the closest anyone has gotten to Morrowind multiplayer
it still looks like pseudo-multiplayer though… he is using Linux and 2 installs to simulate it…. like the other character isn't really there , but we'll see, it sure is a step forward . Hail Resdaynia!

"… thing about Morrowind is we did far more than we could, far less polished than we should. It's a miracle that it works at all… there's too much, and it's like jazz… a product like Oblivion - far better software… but Morrowind… oh there's so much delicious nonsense in that." ~ words of wisdom by K.Rolston

I'd just like to remind everybody this is in OpenMW. This is how OpenMW looks like

parralax lighting

example of a custom fog shader

Normal, specular, parallax maps
This is how vanilla looks like.

Hard to believe it was once this game….I just tried to wrap my head around that and it hurt

Patience is a virtue….. in several years it will be done and it'll be the only PC game that's been continuously modded for so long… since 2002….. will make this better than Skywind. Keep in mind OpenMw is more than a mod, its an open source engine re-implementation (with many things that were never possible in morrowind before like, custom shaders, physics based rendering (PBR), parallax maps and maybe even physics and multiplayer )
