Default GOG - New Year Absolutions

January 25th, 2016, 19:48
Pillars of Eternity, Legends of Eisenwald, Satellite Reign, Wasteland 2, and a lot more big titles are 50-75% off at GOG right now, for the next three days, if you've been waiting.

Gaming sins are a regrettable thing. Whether they come from games you shamefully put aside without finishing them, from questionable methods you used while trying to finish them, or from borrowed discs that you claimed were already scratched - they might all give you trouble sleeping. But the worst offenders are always the games you should have picked up and never did. Well, worry not, fellow sinners, for our Weekly Staff Picks: New Year Absolutions will help you settle the bill with the Gaming Gods and venture into the rest of the year as a whole new person!

I might be tempted by Satellite Reign. I love cyberpunk-ish setting usually. Anyone here played it? How is it?

As long as you're not bothered by a really dark world, it's pretty amazing. It's got a lot going for it - open world, quest at your own pace, multiple ways to achieve objectives, neon/rain-slick cyberpunk ambiance, and even some character customization. If you're a cyberpunk fan it's an absolute must-have, especially if you liked the old Syndicate games.

Really dark world isn't a problem. I'm vary of the "RTS" aspect and I generally suck at real time strategy games, but they generally have a lot more units to manage than this game.

Satellite Reign is real-time small squad management. But you could say it uses RTS mechanics as its basically the same just small scale.

What Silver said. It's listed as real-time strategy everywhere despite you using only 4 squaddies. Anyway, I bought it (along the soundtrack, because I collect those) and it now stand in my installed game "backlog" along with way too many games (and I have even more that aren't installed).

Wow…I'd have totally never pictured it as an RTS.

The original Syndicate was a tactical RTS with modest RPG elements

It's a miracle that it works at all… there's too much, and it's like jazz… a product like Oblivion - far better software… but Morrowind… oh there's so much delicious nonsense in that." ~ words of wisdom by K.Rolston
