Has anyone played this? What are your thoughts? The Steam page says "Dex is a 2D, side-scrolling, open-world cyberpunk RPG with a focus on exploration and non-linear gameplay." I'm just wondering how that translates into a fun experience. It certainly looks different than a lot of games at least.

Well, I reviewed it back in May, if you're at all interested…
(forgive the images…it was before I'd learned RPGWatch's editor system well enough to know how to do images - I'll redo them when I have time)
And Dex is sort of a unique experience. Whether or not you'll like it depends on what you're looking for. If you're a hardcore cyberpunk fan and you're looking for atmosphere and story, Dex is your girl. If all you're looking for is a groundbreaking 2D sidescroller with a revolutionary combat system, you might want to rethink this one a bit.

I thought the enhanced version was a pretty neat game.
A nice cyberpunk story with plenty of interesting characters in it. A good skill-tree of abilities to upgrade, a version of decking/vr-hacking that was quite a bit better than the shadowrun version, standard 2D platformer style movement & fighting and finally a decent game-length with lots of quests & locations.
The only thing I wasn´t entirely satisfied with, was the graphics. A petty concern, that´s true, given that the game certainly is pleasant enough to look at. However, I just couldn´t shake the desire to see "Dex Cyberpunk World" in the same graphical quality used by some other 2D games like: "Stasis", "Deadlight" or "Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate".
If Dex had come with that level of "eye-candy", then I think I´d be willing to give it a 9/10 score, instead of the 7-8/10 I feel comfortable with as it is. After all, graphics do make a difference where atmosphere and immersion in a gameworld are concerned. ;-)

Thanks for the feedback to my question. Your answers have peaked my interest and once the DRM free version is out I'll snag a copy.

Kinda sad how they treat their drm free ks backers though.
Enhanced edition have been on steam for what, half a year?
And still no drm free version for me… Same with the original release as well, was quite some months of waiting while steam users had their fun.
Lots of fun in the game to be had though just be careful about their new KS if you aren't a steam user.
