Not really. I mean, of course you can see it that way.
But I'd say it's common and "good manners" for Kickstarter projects to offer the Game cheaper to backers than it is at release.
Backers are taking a risk of not receiving the game at all.
So to give people an incentive to back, KS projects offer the game cheaper than it is sold at release.

Nope, you've fundamentally misunderstood what kickstarter is. Clue's in the name though.

I know what it is, and I know the direction you are coming from.
And why you might legally be right, it's not how it works.

I can guarantee you that kickstarter would not work at all if they only collected money and offered nothing in return (well besides of the option that there might be a game which you can buy after that).

Fact is that more than 90% of all "professional" game projects offer their game for a cheaper price on kickstarter.
And this is what backers also expect from new projects.

If you see kickstarter as any kind of preorder, you risk being disappointed. You're providing funds to kickstart development of a project.

Yes, it's become commonplace with videogames (kickstarter was around a long time before games got in on the act) to offer a tier wherein you receive a copy of the game as a reward (note you're not buying the game). But there's no reason why the cost of entry to that tier has to be less than or equal to the launch price of the game.

But this is probably a discussion for another thread.

What should really matter is how cheap the game is selling now on Steam. I'm going to guess, and say the online digital sales of Massive Chalice were not that great.

As it only costs $3 right now.

Yes, and if you make the game cheaper at launch than the backer reward, you have devalued your reward.

Which is a foolish thing to do if you're a company, like Double Fine, that runs a lot of Kickstarters and wants to build a group of reliable repeat backers rather than alienating them.

Those who heard about but never tried and would like to give it a shot, NA only!

Riot is giving League of Legends starter pack for free over Amazon:
http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/new…starter-bundle

This pack contains 8 unlocked champions and (irrelevant) XP&IP boosts.
And while those who play the game would never suggest you Warwick (easy to nail with QSS item) or Master Yi (stun and he dead, basically used to troll the match), the pack contains superb AoE stunner/nuker Annie and possibly the best marksman that exists in the game - Sivir.

So if you're gonna give it a shot, and live in North America, there you go.

It's not pay2win sorry.
You can buy skins to look different if you want. If dressup barbie is your style… Do it. That's what microtransactions are for.
Other than that you just can't buy your win.

There are runes that give you different starting stats during matches but you can't possibly buy those for real cash - you need to play and earn so called IP for those. This IP you can't buy for cash but you can buy IP boost. But that thing is irrelevant as you earn IP like crazy anyway just by playing the game.
All items you buy during a match are strictly bought by ingame gold, gold you earn through the match.

Try the game.
Check why not just me but everyone else says ALL free MMOs should learn from LoL.

GOG has a few nice deals. PoE and WL2 are 50% off, and Legends of Eisenwald and Satellite Reign are 75% off.

But it was rather MP skirmish instead of a "campaign" like Jagged Alliance, right?

The last update before the company disbanded added some bugs that meant some missions couldn't be completed… If you read the forums though you can read how to complete and/or avoid those missions and still do the campaigns. In my last session with the game I played about a dozen missions without a problem. So IMO the game is perfectly good if you're a SH fan and go in with some fore knowledge. There's also the roguelike mode where you get randomly generated levels to tackle if you don't want campaign play - this is something I actually asked for many moons ago when the devs asked.

Be that as it may… One of the former devs in his spare time has convinced some of his former workmates to help and they just (in the last day or so) uploaded the first fix patch to address many of the mission completion problems people were complaining about.

If you're still on the fence Ascension regularly comes up in sales and bundles so there's a good chance you could get it even cheaper at some stage. But like I said if you're a SH fan I do recommend picking it up.

Dungeons and Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara is Steam's daily special. It's a pair of old arcade games based on Basic D&D. They're surprisingly deep for 90s beat-em-ups, with rudimentary inventories, experience, and branching storylines. Pretty ambitious stuff for something you plunk coins into.

Just remember that they were designed to eat lives, so don't be surprised when the baddies occasionally pull off some cheap moves that kill you dead.
