Ikenie to Yuki no Setsuna
February 19th, 2016, 14:28
Since it's quite rare we get a non-mobile traditional JRPG from Square Enix these days, I thought Ikenie to Yuki no Setsuna deserved a thread. Even if it's a low-budget game.
It sounds like a charming RPG with solid gameplay. Maybe a bit light on story, characters and content, but in-between bigger titles that can be a plus, IMO. The battle system is party-based ATB.
Here's a thread on Neogaf with impressions: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1186070

Misc. info
English title (probably placeholder): Project Setsuna
Developer: Tokyo RPG Factory (owned by Square Enix)
Publisher: Square Enix
Platforms: PS4, Vita
Release date: 2016 in the west / February 18 in Japan

Because the same hardware is in PS4 and Vita.
If I didn't know, I'd think it's some AMD SoC ment for phones good enough for visuals but completely retarded for any complex code (AI, compression, storage management).

From what I've seen the game design does have it's charm, I dare to say it looks like highly improved RPGmaker style. But if they don't address superlong loadtimes and if the game is really just 20hours long, I won't care enough to buy it.

Perception of what's long load times is, of course, subjective - but compared to other console games it's not that long, IMO. E.g. I just completed Mass Effect 2 on PS3, and it takes from about 20-45 seconds when loading a new floor on the spaceship and about 45 seconds when entering a planet :/
But if they don't address superlong loadtimes

Perception is this: once you get spoiled by SSD, anything that loads longer more than your operating system on SSD is fail and the hardware is ice age garbage that needs to be thrown into a trashcan ASAP.
