Warhammer 40K: Inquisitor - Inquisitorial Log #1
May 4th, 2016, 20:34
In a monthly series of blogs, Neocore is providing more information about Warhammer 40.000: Inquisitor - Marty. In this first blog the destructible environment of the game is covered.
More information.
The new 3D engine paired with updated physics produces a great variety of how different attacks affect the environment. The terrain and obstacles will bear permanent battle scars after an encounter, revealing underlying, damaged surfaces. Impacts have their own characteristics.
Kinetic weapons can tear chunks out of walls, floor panels, throwing rubble and dust in the air. Energy weapons leave glowing hot, molten pockmarks or simply vaporize whole sections. Hazardous objects like pressurised containers, military ordnance can explode upon impact, creating a physical blowback effect, crippling all creatures and objects caught in the blast.

WOWOWOW! Why nobody is commenting on this?! Excellent super feature! Probably the very best my country's developers ever produced! OMGOMGOMG
When we did such destructible environment parts, we had not much physics coded for this so only column chunks were flying off, but the central part of the column remained. Now the whole thing can go "Timber!" in a glorious process of destruction!

For me, anything warhammer sounds cool.
This is a long time away but I cant wait
Warhammer is another universe I would love to see an open world game similar to Witcher 3

Yep, pretty neat. But I'm more concerned with the RPG aspects - I have soured on ARPG's where you move from one fight to the next shooting the crap out of everything. Having played a tabletop w40K campaign (and loving it - 'perils of the warp' etc) , as one of a group of inquisitors in training, the universe has so much more to offer than 'just shooting'. I really hope this is not just about shooting. Every other W40K game I've seen has been either a) shooting or b) RTS (which is a genre I hate) Such a huge waste.

I'm usually bored pretty fast by ARPGs, but I love the WH40K setting and this seems to take a slower more methodical approach.
I'm very keen on trying it!

I only play arpg's now and then. That said this looks freaking sweet. Hopefully full game lives up to trailers

While still an action game, I'm a sucker for tall ships, so I think this one looks interesting.
Edit: Ahh, I just noticed you were referring to Warhammer 40,000, so I guess my fantasy-themed Warhammer suggestions don't quality. I'm definitely no Warhammer expert.
