The ever-popular "Currently Listening" thread

I heard a trio of songs I'd never heard before while listening to the radio today:
Joan Armatrading is still very much alive and well it seems. This live performance of Down To Zero at the Radio 2 Folk Awards is just mesmerising.
Blast from the past and David Bowie clone John Waite singing Isn't It Time with the band The Babys, a band I've never heard of, even though I'm a huge fan of Boobs and Brass backing, something this song is virtually a scholarly lesson in (though a shame the brass can't be seen in the vid).
Finally is Wake Me Up by Avicii. Looking at the youtube vid, omg it has 1 billion views. And I'd never heard of any of it before! Now I know I'm old
The link between all three? Utterly amazing singing voices.

Yes, I wasn't expecting it to turn into a dance track, then the generic club sound kicks in and I started to think less of it, like, is it a sample of a good song etc, don't interrupt the guy with that trash. Cotton Eye Joe is exactly the kind of populist dance music that gives dance music a bad name IMO and that's a good link to make to express my thoughts when the dance beat kicks in.

Finally … found my favorite ESC 2016 song. Can't get it out of my head. And, well, I actually don't care if IVAN will perform naked or dressed as long as the song is on this year's ESC CD …

This one makes the memories come flooding back.

Lime - Babe We're Gonna Love Tonight (Almighty Remix)
Yikes, and this one tears me up a bit. Wow.
Philip Oakey and Giorgio Moroder - Together in Electric Dreams (Extended Mix)
And not to be forgotten, a classic 1995ish prog house / trancer.
Tocayo - Live In Peace (Guitar Mix)
A fantastic soulful jazzy spacey vocal garage tune from the same period
Kim English - Learn 2 Luv (Mood II Swing Vocal)
And another trance classic. Simple along the lines of the Space Brothers.
Liquid Child - Diving Faces (Original Mix)
Winding further back… This is a classic for me from the 80's. Sort of has a trance feel to it… Memories… Seeing the Clash and the Who at the LA Coliseum. 1982.
B-MOVIE - Nowhere girl
One of my favorite progessive house vocals from about 1998. Fantastic vocal, nice piano, and key changes, and effects. By the master remixer - Hex Hector.
Lisa Stansfield - I'm Leavin' (Main Club Mix)
A Friday excess. Remember this techno song from 1991?
Gary Clail and On-U Sound System - Human Nature
And a wonderful garage house tune, from 1994. Love the organ and vocal.
Tyrell Corporation - Better Days Ahead (Satoshi's Club Mix Phase 1 & 2)

Some nice trance from around the turn of the century.
Vincent De Moor - Fly Away (Original Instrumental Version)
Veracocha - Carte Blanche (Original Mix)
Rank 1 - Airwave (Original Mix)
and an ambient - trance - prog house - techno concoction with some nice piano. What more could one ask for?
BT - Embracing The Sunshine (Embracing The Future Mix)

I will list Vincent De Moor - Fly Away (Cosmic Gate Remix) as a good RMX.

Airwave is my all time favorite. And this 2003 Remake gives it a lift
Rank 1-Breathing (Airwave 2003)
I also did a piano/chillot cover
Check it: Airwave

Another major retro moment… One of the best female vocalists in my book.
Dusty Springfield - Look of Love
Dusty Springfield - Son of a Preacher Man
Wonderful album. Her singing is timeless for me.

Another trance classic
BT - Loving You More (B.T.'s Primordial Sound 12" Vocal)
kicked off the dream trance movement back in 1995

I think after the first "in our darkest hour" singing there's a change from major to minor scale, love this. Use of choir, nice surprise.
(Radiohead - Burn the witch)
Autechre just released "Elseq 1-5", listening a lot to that, will take a while, 4 hrs.

Well, it looks like the Junior Boys are still trying to stay cheerful by playing synthy dance music, but ending up sad anyway. Cheer up, Junior Boys! It's Friday night!

Can't get this song out of my head. Been playing it on repeat for days …
If you like toilet paper, zombies, gore and scantily clad wenches (and feel very courageous), you might want to watch the NSFW original video instead.

And here's my contribution to the earworm collection
Marcia Hines - Let Love Flow
I have MANY others, but it's probably best to leave it at that.
