Its pity that the demo expires today but I would love to have given it a go.
I downloaded and tried nioh yesterday, it actually still worked today.

The controls are pretty wonky, maybe wonky's not the right word but they are very different than dark souls which I find very intuitive.

Right now attack is square and triangle and then a backwards dash is x while a dash in any direction is hold down left shoulder button + direction + x.

After several years of dark souls, bloodborne and lords of the fallen that control pretty much the same way I found these changes very unintuitive. Not sure why the wouldn't follow the same control method since it seems like a straight clone otherwise.

There's plenty of time for them to make changes to the control scheme though. Also didn't care for the lock on. It doesn't allow you to circle strafe, if you go backwards your guy turns around. It didn't really feel like locking on at all.

It does take a bit of getting use to. I suspect that square and triangle will allow multiple combinations. found it strange that as long as your block was up, it didn't matter if you were actually facing the enemy or not. I thought I would get back stabbed but didn't. I did like the one shot kills for a head shot with the bow-although arrows were few and far between. Also by pressing R1 for block and then R2 you can change your attacking/defensive stance between high, mid and low which changes your attack or defense power and attacking combo's. Unlike dark souls your summons lasts, seemingly, even when you die. I summoned at the altar, died twice and then, poof, a summons appears and smites the big demon I was trying to kill and then helped my clear the level until he was killed.

I hate to say it but at this point I rate DS3 above Witcher 3 (one of the best game ever too!) since DS3 has changed the way I look at games forever! DS3 is a completely different experience to any game I have played in the last 10 years.
You didn't play the other two DS games ?

No this is my first souls game. The others are on my list to play now.

Slightly off top but after 80 hours into the game I have learned to parry now with decent consistency and I feel like a god! I used to shit my pants whenever I see those "knight" types mobs but they should shit their pants now whenever they seems me since they are so easy to parry

Kingdoms of Amalur:

Well, I wouldn't say the graphic style and combat style is something I would normally like but I am having fun with it. It is hard for me to tell what weapons to keep and use as they all seem over the top to me. Though over the top might have been what I needed.

I had started to play BG2.EE right after finish POE replay..so maybe something a little more cartoonish is what I needed just to mess around with.

Amalur and weapon? Just a warning, there is a bug on some bridge about weapons. You'll hit the gamestopper bug if you use any AoE weapon or skill on that bridge - that bug was never fixed so google for it before it happens.
Dunno which bridge and where, still didn't play the game, but on some sale I bought the game for 5 bucks, then searched if there were reported and not fixed game stopping bugs thus I remember it.

After finishing Final Fantasies one through five, I'm about three hours into the sixth game. I'm enjoying it so far, this is the first one that I've not played years ago, so it is all new to me!!!

I could have liked Amalur. I finished it, but it did suffer from over-abundance of loot. It really was ridiculous.

I expected a lot more from Amalur, I remember it being a huge disappointment, but at least I didn't demand a refund for it like I did with Dragon Age two and Mass mess three. It just had so much potential, and really hit none of it.

I had no real knowledge of the game so no expectations. It was fun enough to stick with. I used magic and chakarams (sp??) for most of my play through of KoA with a little bit of staff. Later on I got into the twin daggers line cause they hit really fast. Never ran into any bugs that I remember. Sell the loot, wait for the artifact/named set drops and then either use them or stack them in a chest you get in the house in the second zone - a big gloomy forest - until you find more pieces. You end up with huge amounts of cash so don't be afraid to splash out on really expensive stuff at the merchants.

I moved from MM7 to MM8. I stopped 7 after getting my 2nd promotions. I've finished the game several times, so I don't need to see the ending. Also, I hate the sci-fi endings. 8 is a lesser game but the loot is better all the way around. There are also a bunch more races. To make 8 fun for me, I install Grayface's mod that allows you to take a full party of level one characters rather than the more powerful hirelings. The game is still easy but not having Cauri and a dragon on your team makes it acceptable. I always play 8 between 7 and 6, since it is the weakest. I also threw in a few hours of The Dwarf Run, but it didn't have enough non-combat elements to keep me interested. I like buying and selling.

After hitting a wall in my leveling I got a bit frustrated with Wizardry 8, so I took a break to start up Might & Magic 6 again.

MM6 is so easy compared with Wizardry that playing it feels like cheating. Twenty apprentice mages one-shotted in quick succession by my lowbie archer! Dead bodies litter the ground!

I've been replaying Doom 3 this week. I finished the main game this morning, and now I'm starting the Resurrection of Evil expansion.

I'm using the Doom 3 BFG Hi-def mod + the Immersive mod which enhances the enemy ai and makes things a little more challenging. Good stuff…
