Which class and which alliance do you want?
I just need to decide on something and while I haven't decided I'm just playing other stuff.

I'm playing in the AD faction as a Woof Elf but I've always enjoyed playing in the woods and I enjoy their architecture.
I haven't even looked at the other factions but they are all decent I'm sure so it really depends on what race and class you want to play.

Zenimax is a bit crazy sometimes. Last year they had a "Win 1 millions $" contest. This year they have a Trip of a Lifetime contest.

I wouldn't call advertising by using gambling/lottery crazy.
If they were actually crazy, they'd have shut the whole MMO idiocy down and make Skyrim 2 or Fallout 5 already.

It really is as if they tried to make an MMO version of a single player game. It's not Skyrim 2, but it's worth the $40 IMO.

I hit level 50 on Sunday … I didn't even mean to level this fast but the Guild I joined has alot of activities which are fun to join in on. The last 2 weeks we did every Dolmen and every world boss. Then theres the normal guild groups always going on. Doing the main quest line right now and it has me in Cold Harbor which is kinda blah visually. If anyone wants to join a fun Social/RPish guild let me know. I can also turn you into a Vampire if your interested.

I actually just picked up the gold edition.
First impressions have been good. The music and how many objects are lootable and especially being able to "steal" every sword on the rack does a good job giving the game an Elder Scrolls feel.
What level do I need to be before I can join in with guild activities?

Any level as you will scale to level 50 CP 160 I believe. You won't have have many passive or active abilities tho which is where much of the higher levels strength comes from.
Make sure you go to the horse stables every day and get your upgrade every day. Its once a day so you might as well get started on it.

One of the things that put me off with the game is the draw distance. Its really poor and they hide this with the "blue fog". Have they fixed this or is this still an issue? The same issue exist on both PC and PS4 few years ago when I last played it.

My draw distance is very far but I have it set to the farthest distance. There is fog but mine looks like normal fog and looks pretty nice but I do have all the graphics settings maxxed out. I really like the graphics here, they did a very good job on them. Some of the quest text is still pretty bad at times tho.

Sorry Blue fog == fog
The draw distance is not graphics card limitation but its game engine limitation. Even on a GTX 1080 you will still get it. Apparently its still an issue however you can partially mod for it on PC which is good news.

Pvp was a lagfest over the weekend.
With longer draw distances, I can imagine even worse playing.

Respecced as I was a bit all over the place and got rid of being a Vampire as I was becoming less and less effective in combat. I'm a bit over 100 CP now and was getting one or two shot from boss fire damage. It kinda sucked. Now I'm much more effective and survive more. I'm sure I will change it all up again once I hit CP 160.

Vampires are great for PvP, but fire damage is the BIG drawback in PVE.

I may try werewolf, theres plenty of them in the guild to infect me.
I liked being a vampire but like you said, for PvE dungeons its not that good. I can see where the movement rate would rock for PvP.

Hm, my vamp is about 165 CP and the fire damage thingy never handicapped him, at least not seriously. But he's a tanky summoner, anyway, with minor PvE health problems at best best (I rarely do PvP). Might be different if he was some kind of glass cannon.
EDIT
I like the Halloween event. Dungeons are full of skellies waiting for bosses. I usually take out my folding chair to sit among them.

There are a few very nasty fire bosses in veteran dungeons that can be very brutal on non-tanky vamps.

I'm up to CP 200 now. Finished the main questline and the Orc questline. Doing the Mage Guild one right now. Also tried the Arena and got to the last boss on stage 9 but could not kill him without Vigor so I PvPed for a few days to get that and Caltrops. Went back to the Arena and they put me back at stage 1 … yeah. I'm not in the mood to go thru all that again.
