While not about RDR2, fresh video from JS reminds people why consoles suck:

There is a very interesting question in comments there:
"If PC is so good, why is there no PC 2?"
Really, how come we're still using ancient IBM PC architecture even today?
That is the tale of the rpg elements: other genres adopt RPG features, they could not have come to developp them by themselves.
Consoles do not compete with PCs. The issues they encounter have nothing to do with a competition with PC. They come from the path they follow.

Stop arguing, zahratustra. Chien understands our interests better than we do.![]()
Customers tell they want one thing yet desire another. They place their interest in somewhere when it is elsewhere.
When people tell their interest, anyone else can know as well as them their interest.
When people thell their interest is somewhere when showing it is somewhere else, people can know better than themselves

errr… NO. I was interested in RDR but I wasn't about to buy PlayStation just to play that and a couple of other games. So I've watched it on YouTube.
RDR is undissociable from consoles. Having an interest in RDR means having an interest in consoles. This is what happened eventually: the absence of interest in consoles materialized with its subordinate: no interest for RDR.

So I'd have to accept 30FPS and probably even less with Sony's servers bandwith?
How about Sony puts PC now on their rubbish console.

Frankly that's not a port in the true sense.

I apologize if this was already posted up-thread, but this pessimistic take is consoling me in my bitterness that we still won't see the game on PC. From Wired:
ROCKSTAR GAMES HAS finally announced Red Dead Redemption 2, the sequel to the acclaimed Western epic that a lot of people I know hold up as Rockstar’s best game. Of course, the internet is thrilled […] Another massive, handcrafted open world in a powerfully lifelike space that offers a deep single-player experience? No matter what you think of Rockstar’s chops, there’s something compelling about that.
In the three years since Rockstar last released a game, something in the background has slowly shifted—something that the gaming media hasn’t really talked about. It’s a change that might fundamentally alter what Rockstar is, and what their games look like going forward. If you’re an adherent to Rockstar’s old ways, you might not like it.
So, what happened? Four words: Grand Theft Auto Online. […] the game has generated $500 million in revenue for its publisher.
What is Red Dead Redemption 2 going to look like? Will it resemble the vast, persistent world and miniature MMO stylings of Grand Theft Auto Online? I’m not a gambler, but a half-billion dollars certainly points to “yes.”
