Personally I'm always a skeptic when it comes to buying games not on a major store (like Steam, GOG, et.) because I rely on user reviews and at least the possibility of a refund if I have problems running a game on my computer.

Well then, I wish them the best of luck with that and will give the game a second look should they be successful.

What the heck was that video? If that 'thing' is representative of the quality of the game, good luck with it….

That text at the end was scrolling awful fast. I could barely skim it in time.

Almost too many good CRPGs out there now to really meddle around with substandard ones, though 3.5 D&D style combat sounds fantastic. (I really wish WoTC would get around to letting/pushing some 5.0 ruleset D&D games… turn based.)
I shall look for it on Steam if it makes it there.

Looks like another one of those ellis studio games…

Yo, this looks cool. If this is a full length RPG, say, 40+ hours, I'll play this.
This is my kind of game. They had me at D&D influenced but seeing some of the menus and rules, stats, etc., yeah, I like it.
HiddenX, do you usually cover games like this? Occasionally I've been finding some crazy and obscure stuff in the news here. Lots of these little indie RPGs are interesting.

While it's on my mind, here are a few weird/obscure but interesting RPGs to check out:
Ruzar - The Life Stone (Grimrock-style crawler)
Kings and Generals - A Divided Loyalty (JRPG style)
Legion Saga (Suikoden-influenced RPG, aka many playable/recruitable characters + political story)
Lord of the Seal (Etrian Odyssey influenced PC crawler) - http://store.steampowered.com/app/522610/

Like you said, D&D 3.5 style combat + mechanics?? How many new games are doing that right now? I'll check it out for that reason as well.

This is from their site.
"The Best Turn-Based RPG Ever" The reason I like this game so much is that each battle needs some planning, and thus the party you create needs a lot of thought.. and thus
… its a thinking mans D&D type game..very absorbing… wonderfully slow paced which I prefer.. and very similar to 3.5 ruleset. It sticks much closer to the rules of the tabletop games. You will quickly learn that leveling up in any way possible before you even leave the village is very important as the battles can be very tough. This is well worth considering if you enjoyed the dungeons and Dragons based titles, but it is a much tougher challenge. Its in quotes…like its taken from a source…but i dont think so…im sure they said it about their own game….
I bought humans and monsters…or realms of darkness..hmm forget which one now(from what i assume is this company).
D&d? Hundreds of npcs? 100+ hours of gameplay?? One of the best rpgs ever??!! I thought, hidden gem! Wasnt on steam, so, i bought it from thier site. Made my party.
First thing i did was make my character…walk through…some furniture in his house… Fought a couple battles…then i realised my cleric had unlimited use of his healing spell. No matter how much damage i took in battle, i could heal up everyone to full health all of the time. Im not sure if it was a bug, or intentional but i realised this game isnt going to be what it claims to be…

Also, I agree that "source" quote is just some hype for the game, but hey, it has me interested so it's done its job! I take it more at the value that even if they did write that themselves, that is the type of game they are trying to make and you can read between the lines and see what they are going for. IMO.

Just bought Sacred Blade. Will report back. This is not only my first game purchase in quite some time, but this will be my first RPG after not playing one for months. Let's see what we have in store here…

I'm no graphics-fiend. (I appreciate good artwork like anyone but it's not a requirement.)I'll check it out when it hits Steam since you seem to be digging it and you often have similar tastes to me it seems in "liking" these types of games. 3.5 style combat would be enough of a pull and… actually SanctuaryRPG was text and I thought it one of the better CRPGs/roguelikes/whatever of last year.

Okay, so I've only played 5 minutes of the game (lol) thus far, but I wanted to post quick initial impressions.
1 - The game already shows it has lots of stuff. Stats galore, many armor/equipment slots, D&D flavor the whole way. Divine/Arcane spells, Abilities, Passives, etc. Percentages, dice rolls, the works. Love that already.
2 - Combat is turn-based. I fought a Hobgoblin and one of my attacks caused the "Bleeding" status ailment where the Hobgoblin lost HP each round.
2 - I believe character creation gender is locked to the various classes (of which there are about 10 or so). Either that or I couldn't figure out how to change gender.
3 - Already picking up side quests to find some lady's horse. Also, the first little village has a bunch of NPCs with unique dialogue for each one, as well as NPCs who move around the scene (like a guy on his horse, or someone walking, etc.). Nice touch.
4 - The second map area already has at least 2 options of where to go. I could go north to some area or east to the Desertlands, etc. So it seems like there will be some options and choices of where to explore. Roadsigns give you various basic directions.
5 - Lovely and immersive music thus far. I don't know if there was a composer for the game or it is stock RPG music, but I like it.
6 - Dialogue is not bad. A typo I noticed, but overall it's alright. It seems definitely good enough for me to play and not have much of an issue with it.
7 - You can play without a mouse, which is likely how I'd recommend these types of games. Right hand controls the arrow keys on your keyboard, left hand controls the buttons. I found that assigning the "B" button (brings up menus, cancels actions, etc.) to the 'Z' key works well. Spacebar is fine for confirm/use/all basic actions. That's really I needed to use so far and it works well.
8 - Just a quick note, but I would have liked to have been able to reassign the button functions to any key I chose, rather than the default template. It would be nice to use the 'Tab' key, for example, to act as an assignable button (I think the "cancel/menu/B" button to Tab would work better for me.)
So, I'm going to continue and I'll post further impressions in the thread I made in the General RPG section here when I've played more.
