The Witcher (Wiedzmin) TV Series
December 18th, 2016, 01:20
Polish TV series from 2002. One season, 13 episodes. Complete series including English subtitles, can now be found online (YouTube). Alternatively a currently well seeded torrent of all 13 episodes incl. eng subs available via TPB (somewhat higher resolution -- 4.74 GB total). Commercial DVD and/or Blu-ray versions don't seem to be available.
I recommend this. Not perfect, and not a master works, but quite enjoyable IMO. I'd give it a rating of about 80 -- probably on a sentimentality basis -- mentally filling in "the blanks" in the videos with memories form the game series. Many similarities in people and places from the games. A happy walk down memory lane for me.
I haven't read the books -- and would guess that the TV series probably pales compared to books -- as is often the case with this sort of thing. The series does deviate from the books in plaecs. A summary of episodes and the differences from the books can be found here.
At any rate I did enjoy this and recommend it to others looking for a pleasant walk down the witcher memory lane.

Supposedly it's abomina-ble. Watched it only in sketches, but boy-o-boy it looks sort of like a home made movie.

Does it have boobies?
BTW, there was both a movie and the TV series. Same title and actors. The movie issued in 2001 and followed by the TV series. "The theatrical movie was essentially the then-unreleased TV series chopped into about 2 hours," The movie was confusing and poorly received. The TV series is more coherent and is apparently adapted from Sapkowski's witcher short stories. Both movie and TV series are alternatively called The Hexer.

Watched it a few years ago, and if you watched Hercules & Xena on TV its the same quality. Also yes they changed the source material, but that never bothered me at all.
You can also watch it subbed on this Youtube Channel.

If it's blocked in your country nothing I can do about that.

It's hokey. I've seen elementary school plays with a bigger budget and better production values. The plot/dialogue at times are incoherent. Yet I'm enjoying this series. I'm a sucker for series/movies/books about the lone hero journeying across the land… (think: "Kung Fu" with David Carradine, The Road Warrior, etc). Being a big fan of the Witcher universe, it's rather fun to see some of the characters brought to life. Geralt is OK, Yennefer is fine, VERY fine in the upper body department.
Is it the norm to have full nudity in European TV productions? It caught me by surprise: a very nice surprise to be sure, but still….
Imagine Xena Warrior Princess (another favorite of mine) being made like this.

Eh? Watched a bit of it, doesn't look nearly as bad as I thought. Already looking better than Force Awakens.

It's adapted from short stories, so not interested. I didn't like the first two Witcher books with short stories, I only liked the 5 books that comprise the saga. Maybe it's because I liked Cirilla (her character was VERY different in the books, most people hated it but I loved it, and it's sad that TW3 changed her). So for me, no Cirilla in the TV series = no watch, otherwise I'd bear horrible acting out of curiousity xD
I heard they were showing young Emhyr back when he was cursed, though. But I satisfied myself with watching the screenshots of that. Haha, him and Pavetta together = the beauty and the beast. xD

The movie wasnt great mainly because they change story that was in the book (all we has to do was follow the damn story, Geralt). Also lame special effects. Very lame. Żebrowski looks good as a witcher, and overall is not that bad (but it could be so much better). Don't know how it look as a whole series, personally saw only a movie.

Yeah it's pretty damn odd in how they handled it. I'm up to epizode 5( or 6?) and they're jumping sequences without any correlation. Or even trying for it( the way they introduced Yennefer).
Seems like one of those mexican soap operas when they lament this or whatnot, but without delirium and cat fights.
