It is a shame that it doesnt offer the ability to play steam games. The main reason I am getting it is because of Zelda and that FINALLY Nintendo are going back to what made the game great in the original.

Well I have the Shield to play Steam games, and I will patiently wait for the Shield 2. By that time there may be native Android (and also, GOOD and functioning) Windows emulation, PS2 emulation and more. I think I mentioned it but ExaGear is already working on Windows emulation of some sort, and if gets to a good point where you could port older Windows RPGs, etc.., to Android, well then it will be incredible. That's not even counting game streaming and this sort of thing.

I'm also going to get the Switch just to have fun with new Nintendo games again. I am a fan of the Wii and previous Nintendo consoles.

Hey Fluent, you seem to be in to the emulators quite a bit. Is there a good one i could use on the shield to play the Nintendo versions of Wizardry?

IIRC that would be the NES and SNES?

Sorry for going a bit off topic.

saki, Are you TRYING to get me to type a 1000 word essay?

For Wizardry, yes, NES, SNES emulators are a good start. The SNES emulator I use on the Shield is Snes 9x EX+. It's very good. There are also a bunch of good Wizardry game on the Game Boy Advance, or GBA. I think I am using MyBoyFree for GBA emulation. I'll have to look.

Also, you can also do Nintendo DS and PSP emulation on the Shield. NDS has Wizardry-style crawlers as well, like Etrian Odyssey, The Dark Spire (made as the Wizardry team's "dream game"), and others. The Shield stylus works particularly well with these games, such as mapping the dungeons in Etrian Odyssey. The PSP has stuff like Class of Heroes and more.

There is also a very, very good PS1 emulator on the Shield, and that is EPSXE. There are Wizardry ports for the PS1 as well, of the first 3 games in the original trilogy and then games 4 + 5 in another game. There may be more for the PS1 that I haven't gotten to yet.

Finally, there is a note to remember about English translations as well. Many of the Wizardry games for these systems also have English translations that you can find at romhack.net. I believe there are several on the GBA that have been translated, and others if you look. Just search for Wizardry or what have you on the romhacking site.

One last thing. There are full rom sets you can download for a few of these systems. If you have a 128gb sd card, you can easily fit the NES, SNES, GBA, Genesis collections and more on the card with much room to spare. Keep in mind that most of these full game collections won't have the translated games. I mention the rom sets because you might also want the old D&D ports for those systems, and the Might & Magic games and what not.

The Shield is cool, yo.
