That's why a good piggy loves to roll in shit, it finds it a blissful experience. There's a reason everyone belongs on his own corresponding level , though…

"… thing about Morrowind is we did far more than we could, far less polished than we should. It's a miracle that it works at all… there's too much, and it's like jazz… a product like Oblivion - far better software… but Morrowind… oh there's so much delicious nonsense in that." ~ words of wisdom by K.Rolston

Sure, Fluent. You could answer one question for me. I just read one preview that didn't mention any new content added at all. That is, the author just talked about resolution and graphics, etc., leading me to want to assume there is no added content, which would be my preference. Damned ridiculous the reviewer didn't address the issue specifically and say one way or another.
So, did Beamdog add any new content to the game?

Well I'll be buying this immediately; color me a fanboy.
(Reasons - Hell, tab highlighting alone is nice. Resolution, little fixes - the fact I don't have to mod the original, etc. I love Beamdog and have bought all their EE's, Siege of Dragonspear was the only game I didn't really "love" by them and it wasn't due to any political reason; it was just a lackluster game.)
I just re-played the EE of Icewind Dale a few months ago and had a blast with it. Tried to play Icewind Dale 2 on GoG and I really, really missed those EE features.
Shrug.

Hmmm, I was never an avid fan of the original, but do acknowledge its merits.
Honestly, the only feature piqued my interest is the tab highlight (dislike pixel hunting).
I think the many of us missing the point: Beamdog's EE releases might not be the "definitive editions" (if there is such a thing), but may generate enough interest for young players to try out gramp's cherished fapware games.
Heck, they might enjoy it.

Thanks, Fluent. Guess I could've gone and found the FAQs myself.
Zoom and UI scaling for the HD resolutions are enough for me to buy it. Autoloot and the tabbing thing are nice, too.

Yep yep. And there are little cool features that aren't necessarily game-changers, but improve the game. I like the Gray Scale When Paused feature. It just changes the screen composition to gray scale whenever the game is paused and adds a bit of a neat atmosphere. The Tab highlighting is well done and useful, and the resolution @ 4K is pixel perfect when fully zoomed out and looks great.
The Frame Rate feature is also a bit interesting. Apparently the original game is locked at 30 FPS, and it is one of those games that changes speed at higher framerate. They enhanced the framerate to 40, I believe, which makes the game smoother and a slight bit faster. You can set it to 30 (original), or even 50 which makes the game a bit faster, but may cause audio sync issues.
The text is crisp @ 4K and the Font Size slider does a good job of making it a very readable size. The Quickloot works and is a button toggle. Not sure if it's an EE feature but the Double Cursor Size button is also great as it makes the cursor easier to see and read on screen.
So far so good.

I love Beamdog as well. You may be interested to see the breaking news I broke about a certain upcoming EE! (Half-joking about breaking news, but Beamdog *did* like a tweet in a conversation I had on Twitter, and well, see for yourself.
Notice that Beamdog liked the tweet that implied that IWD2:EE is the next logical step. You heard it here first!

*Also - I will be giving away at least one copy of the game on April 11 on my Steam group! So if anyone is interested in trying to get a free copy of the game, feel free to check out my Steam group before or around the 11th.

I could swear tab highlighting was in the original game. I guess that was only in the BG and IWD titles?
March 30th, 2017, 21:07
It was introduced with BG2 and Heart of the Winter for IWD. PST never had highlighting, and I remember because there is this one small hotspot in the room when you return to Curst and meet Ebb Creakness again. Didn't find it although I knew it had to be there..

Does the new version of Planescape make use of EAX sound like the original? I've found a utility that helps activate it for the original versions called '3dsoundback' through you have to set compatibility for vista to get it running. It adds a lot to both Baldurs Gates but I'm not sure if the Icewind Dales used it also.

My memory is completely failing me, I could have sworn tabbing was in SoA. I guess it's a very long time since I played it without the expansion installed though - I assume the expansion also applied it to the base game?

I never enjoyed PS:T much, so I'll take a pass on this one. It's funny how people have issues with these EE releases though. Closet anti-capitalists, I guess. The two I bought work fine and I've enjoyed replaying the old classics without all the nuisance of patching them up. I wonder if we'll get a ToEE EE?
