And I don't give a shit about combat in an RPG. That's quite low down on my requirements list.

@ChienAboyeur: Move in move out is Elder Scroll combats, for me TW1 without the chains was more than that. Well your point was perhaps about chains use, that's wrong, again use really chains and group style, it's you that seem not know use them, not me. Im' sad if some players encourage such design crap, but ok it's also a matter of preference and I don't own the truth on such combats design.

And btw, I didn't fight like that in any of TW games. I'm not playing games like Angry Joe.

Emulating the witcher fighting style is not necessary to beat the game. TW allows to emulate it, contrary to TW3.

While I didn't mind the combat I have to agree with Zahratustra on this. Who cares? If you don't like combat it can be very low on the list. I played the entire game of MEA on the easiest setting (narration) and blew through it as I wasn't really interested in combat. I played more for the story, visuals, companions, quests, exploring, and the like. Combat was just something to get through to that. Oh it was fun using biotics but I certainly wasn't interested in playing on hard so every battle would be some drawn out fight. I just am not that interested in combat. There is more to the game then combat.

Anyone caring about gameplay (gamers) care about combat.
Role players, even though the occurrences are rare, might also care about combat as combat conveys part of the role.

Skyrim with close range isn't move in/hit/move out? Pretty sure it is for Oblivion and Morrowind. It's fun 30mn and tedious past that. I played fully only a mage in Skyrim, only tried, get bored, and restarted for a close range.
The key difference for me with TW1 compared to some Elder Scroll is
- There's good dodging too, with both roll and even not roll yeah even without roll there are dodge opportunities.
- There's also better design around timing with enemies, it's not Gothic 2 quality, but in the spirit. It makes the move in/hit/move out or dodge, and the dodge/hit more fun.
- The chains bring nothing and removes something by the ability of abusing them. But ok I agree that the ability of a chains of 2 or 3 should fit. The error or chains is to glue to a target, that's too automatic. That's where a system like Gothic 2 has a lot more potential and when well used it has more depth.
- The fighting style is an idea but badly implemented, group style is too dominant.
I had more fun with TW1 combats once I stopped use (and abuse) of chains, at a point I just decided try without chains not for efficiency but to try, and I got instantly much more fun combats, it's not the inability to use crap chains that made me stop use them.

For the idea of RPG without combats, T:ToN shows how difficult it is. And for me a game like Deus Ex HR pinpoints how hard it is to replace fully combats with some sneaking system.
It's difficult from a gameplay perspective just because it's difficult to invent coherent complex systems merging many mechanisms and possibilites as can combats. And it's not some QCM basic system that can reach 1% of such complexity.

I, on the other hand, replayed Dishonored I twice in nonlethal/sneak mode and enjoyed it immensely. So each to its own.

How many skills related to stealth, how many mechanisms it involves? Compare with combats and it's a part of an objective answer without considering preferences.

Last patch was on 6th so the next should be out soon, most probably next week. Keep also in mind that Origin usually releases patches on tuesday or thursday, rarely on other days.
No official word though.

This is a good review, more focusing on story/setting/characters.

I recommend Noah's channel for those who haven't heard of it…not as charismatic as some of the others, but more in depth in narrative analysis.

An hour long irrelevance that could fit a few paragraphs written article. But articles don't make $ like youtube crap I guess.
Waste of time. The only positive thing I can say about it - it has captions.
