Never really used steam forums a lot, but I don't get this corporate desire to close forums. Isn't Steam building this huge gaming community and then it closes it's forums which can are used for communication between their users and also between their users & developers.

Wow, you talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
You want to have people go to your site not to some third party. Besides, other users are free moderators for your software.
I think its the difference between Encyclopedia Britannica and Wikipedia.

They've been transitioning from their old forums on steampowered.com to their forums on steamcommunity.com for a while now. I'm pretty sure they are both run by Valve, so they will still have forums. At least for our games, almost all of the traffic has been on the newer forums for the last few years.

Steam still has forums for individual games. Its under "community discussions". The headline is misleading.
It would be really dumb if steam ever decided to shut down all their game forums, I doubt that will ever happen.

As long as the community forums arent gone, those are the actual ones i use. Whether be it to complain about the quality of the game or looking up fixes for games.

There's probably some help you can find for really old games on those forums that you'll now have to try and find on the WayBack machine but I'm actually pretty surprised Valve kept the forums going for that long.
Now, about the lack of moderation in the surviving forums….

Forums are still up. What's the matter? Why are they closing them down?
When Steam first appeared, the forums weren't as integrated as the forums are now. The "new" style forums showed up, oh, maybe 5 years ago but Steam kept the old style forums alive if you knew the URL address to go to, which was handy for looking up help via Google. Now few people use the old forums and most of the old games have had people re-post/re-invent the help that used to exist only on the old forums. So Steam finally sent the old forums back to the bits from whence it came.
