@CRPGNUT:

Let me tell you something about real antisemtism. You know the one that kills, that hurts people and destroys lives. Perhaps it may come as a big surprise but there are still german jews in germany. Yes. Really. I am one of them. Yes, and perhaps you should know that members of my family have been killed by nazis. That my grandmother survived the war was nothing less then a miracle. If not I wouldn't exist today.
I could tell you about the instances of antisemtism I encountered in my live even if I am not religious but people do know..I don't think it would be interesting to talk about it. But it's not one character in a game that had a profession a lot of jews had in the middle ages, a profession only jews were allowed to have.
So don't FUCKING lecture me about antisemtism. And let me tell you I did not find the game antisemtic. I find this charade highly amusing all this heroes that fight such "cases" of antisemtism but where are you when there are guys that are attacked or verbally abused on the street? Where are you when real antisemtism happens? Nowere.

I perfectly enjoy historical settings, but this is also a fantasy game… no need and no added value from doing it the way they did other than potentially reinforce stereotype.
Didn't play this game, but this always seemed a strange mindset. Most ( well designed) fantasy games still have their logic and consistency that the world is built around, even with magic and mythical creatures….you don't just dump everything in world/setting on "cool" factor.
And stereotyping ( based on RL/historic equivalents) is frequent, so it's more relatable to audience ( Elder Scrolls is filled with examples).

This is a solid title, gave me forty or fifty hours of sheer entertainment. Totally worth buying at full price, and a complete steal with any sort of discount.

Great game, quite challenging. Best part of it is imho that the combat go completely without the luck component. If you fail a combat you can try again and find better choices instead of getting a lucky strike. So to me the combat was extremely satisfying and one of the best I have seen in games even though it might look a bit weird in the first hours as the battlefields are very small and the combat rules are somewhat unique. They are however also extremely well cleverly designed and fit perfectly together.

Regarding the starting characters: The "Mage"-Character is extremely bad in the beginning but becomes stronger later on. It's the character I played with and I agree that it's not very intuitive and feels somewhat bad.

Regarding "Sandboxy". The game is generally not a pure sandbox game. For a big amount of time the levels are more or less linear or pseudo-linear. There are however also bigger levels which give you more room to explore. These large maps are also the ones which can get boring at some point though.

As far as I remember there were also a couple of optional quests you could do or leave out.

Definitely a game I'd recommend. The "thing" with the jews was also something I sent as feedback, though it fits into the context of this historical setting. Especially for Germans this can be something which is taken the wrong way.

And while it has fantasy elements, the game is quite historical, pretty similar to the conquistador games which also have some fantasy aspects which are extremely limited though.

I didn't like him too much, but although obviously a caricature of Jewish stereotypes, the game is different.

It literally makes mentions of Jewish names and is very literal in the fact of saying that Jews are horrible loansharks etc.

The Star Wars one is less of a problem for me because they have made it into a fantasy character.

If Simon the Levy moneylender was called Johannes The Sly, I would not have batted an eyelid…

Anyway, like I said. I think it's not a bad game. That was one of my main peeves.

The battles were fun, a lot of fun. I simply found some things repetitive after a while, but the game is certainly worth it on a sale.

The main issue with the game for me was simply that it was mostly the same thing over and over. Each map had a slightly different story but you basically did the same thing most of the time.

I enjoyed some of the puzzles and and side stories too.

Another peeve is the part where it's hard to find something on the map simply because of how the game was designed.
