Thoughts on these two? Which game do some of you like better and why?
Thanks.

Didn't play other one but AoM is one of my favorites, huge fan of old world religions/mythology.
Any games similar like it, hmm, can't remember many?

Both are RTS in the vein of age of empires.
They simply have different tech trees and mythology has the added aspect of mythology and gods.
Rise of nations goes does Stone Age to modern era.

Rise of Nations was okay, fine gameplay wise, though I never could get into it like I could other RTS games including Age of Mythology.
Not really a fan of the territory/map thing and I seem to remember some kind of influence/territory zone ingame which I wasn't thrilled about either.
Also I don't remember it ever feeling like there was any kind of story, not that that's critical. Love things like Age of Empires 1 - 2 which have little to nothing in the way of story or character progression, can't stand Age of Empires 3 which has lots of "story". It's just that there's nothing memorable from Rise of Nations in that regard, maybe there isn't any or maybe I've completely forgotten it.
Age of Mythology on the other hand I still remember Arkantos, Chiron and a few others even if their names escape me right now. It had units which were far more entertaining than the standard tanks etc. Also had a lot of environments which made things feel fresh as it moved along.
On the single player side it's no contest.

"… thing about Morrowind is we did far more than we could, far less polished than we should. It's a miracle that it works at all… there's too much, and it's like jazz… a product like Oblivion - far better software… but Morrowind… oh there's so much delicious nonsense in that." ~ words of wisdom by K.Rolston
