Tom Petty passes at age 66

UPDATE as of 10 minutes ago Petty was still unconscious under full cardiac arrest but he has not passed yet. A chaplain has been called. The family has a do not resuscitate on him.

And an already shitty day becomes shittier……this one hurts.

RIP Tom.

Ouch, yet another legend passes way too early. You will be greatly missed, Mr. Petty.

Thanks for the good music and good vibes. We celebrate your life.

I would agree - these are perhaps the darkest times I've known in my lifetime.

Update, Oct. 2, 2017, 5:20 p.m.: This post has been updated to reflect that CBS has retracted its confirmation of Petty’s death.

Tom Petty, whose no-nonsense rock ’n’ roll endeared him to several generations of fans, is in critical condition at a Santa Monica hospital. (CBS News reported earlier that the LAPD had confirmed Petty’s death, but has since retracted the report.) According to TMZ, Petty was taken to the hospital Sunday night after he was found in cardiac arrest, and he “is not expected to live throughout the day.”

What, no one still from The Who, The Stones, Zeppelin, Dylan, Neil Young, The Beatles, Cream, Pearl Jam, The Police, The Cult, The Smiths, and hundreds of other bands I don't have time to type out? You sir, either have a very narrow view on musical greats or a very cold heart. I would hope you think about changing your post. I'm a huge music lover and I don't think I have ever been offended on this site by such a foul statement.
