RPG Predictions for 2018

Share some predictions and we can see who came closest by the end of 2018.

Some random predictions. Some more obvious than others.

-Scummvm will fully support Might and Magic: World of Xeen in 2018.

-The next Dragon Age game will not be a single player RPG but boring like always since Origins. ;-)

-A new Starflight game will be formally announced 2018:

• Starflight will have an isometric camera perspective when playing as a squad of four in rtwp.
• There will be recruitable and made companions.
• The ship combat will be 2.5d which will allow some limited z axis manueveuring but the combat will play like Starcon2 otherwise but with tactical pause.
• The planet exploration will be conducted via a rover unless there is a reason to exit vehicle.

-Wizards of the Coast will announce a remake of the Gold Box games in the style of Pillars of Eternity. (wishful thinking)

-The next Metal Gear game will be turned into an RPG.

- Pathfinder: Kingmaker will be a huge success (in RPG terms), and everyone will start calling Owlcat "the new Bioware".

My predictions:

-New D&D games will be like Sword Coast Legend or BGark Alliance (sad face)

Pillars of Eternity 2 will turn out to be a surprisingly great rpg, and will be a big hit. It will be the closest to a Baldur's Gate type rpg experience than has been seen in a long time.

Larian will announce a new rpg game, having nothing to do with the Divinity universe.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will be a massive blockbuster, and win many game of the year awards. (And yea, this is not strictly a rpg by definition, but its a game highly anticipated by many, including me )

A Pool of Radiance remake would be so good.

My guesses:

Beamdog's first new premium module for Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition is called "The Black Hound".

Beamdog later announce Baldurs Gate III, aiming for a 2019 release, using D&D 5e. It is inevitably set on the Sword Coast and features a Drizzt cameo but still looks rather good.

A new Elder Scrolls game called Hammerfell comes out of nowhere and sells a gazillion copies. Creation Club remains a thing and the internet goes into meltdown.

The DLC for Underrail finally comes out and is ace.

Chris Avellone is mentioned in seven more Kickstarter pitches.

Jon Van Canegham will do a Kickstarter that takes us back to the days of Might and Magic. The final battle you will fight with the great Werdna. Try and make a better prediction then that

Knights of the Chalice 2 will be released.

Dark Heart of Uukrul will get remade my Bethesda.

New Dungeons and Dragons MMO based in Greyhawk will be made. This will use AD&D rule set. Starting area will be Keep on the Borderlands and In Search of the Unknown. Will go all the way thru Against the Giants and Queen of the Demon Web pits.

Skywind will finally be released.

JVC gets the rights back to the HoMM series.

Goldbox games will be remade using the Kingmaker engine.

Fallout 5 will be made using the Fallout 1 engine.

Battle Brothers will get mod support.

Eador Genesis 2 will be made.

As it is written, so let it be done.

I think he missed the Kickstarter mega-success window by a few years.

All I require for the upcoming year is Knights of the Chalice two. That is all I need to game on like the happy clown that I am!

JVC will make another phone game and be even more forgotten than he is already. At least he didn't go nuts, like Garriot.

We will get a actual trailer for cyberpunk and maybe a release date.

Ubisoft will release an "RPG" that involves filling in icons on a map, like all their other games.

Star citizen will be delayed again.

Obsidian will announce their new cRPG in the next 3 months, and it's another new IP.

I predict it will be cold at the start of 2018 year of rpg.

He may yet announce he's begun work on Grimoire 2 and just think of all the years of fun that would create!!

Yes, a sequel, yes! To be released, I predict… on the next time the Haley's Comet passes near our planet. And the sequel will be developed using a modern engine too, let's say Infinity engine
