While I for one would love to see something original, Obsidian is making a safe business decision if they don't try something new. Look at the fate of Jade Empire, Alpha Protocol, and about any other attempt at a high budget rpg in an original setting. Sadly the general public doesn't seem to want anything different.

I have a problem, if a game doesn't have some 'supernatural' aspects (call it magic, psionics, nanotechnology, 'the force', biotics, etc), then the game is too mundane for my taste.
