Kingmaker - Beta One Arriving 5th April

Try turning off resolution scaling in your nvidia control panel?
If that doesn't work, try adding -windowed to your steam launch options
EDIT: It could also be away that Unity handles DX in Win7. If the above doesn't work, maybe try re-installing/repairing DX11 or seeing if there's an update for it.

Many bugs/issues get resolved during this stage, the full and complete release may work flawlessly, don't despair quite yet.

I've been playing this game for about 12 hours straight. It is without a doubt one of the best games I have ever played. Vastly better than Original Sin 1/2 even with all the bugs it currently has. I have reported about 10 bugs so far so you should probably wait awhile as some of them are pretty serious.
I'm playing as an evil alchemist with the grenadier specialisation. I picked it because it is something I would never normally choose and I didn't want to ruin my main play-through which I will wait till it is out and fully patched. But damn it is fun lobbing grenades around!! They scale really well as you level and alchemical powers become more varied as you level i.e. tangleroot etc.
The overland map is one of the best I have ever used - it is right up there with the original blade of destiny map. You map out paths and there are many special areas and quests to find by just exploring.
The quests are generally well done and the outcome often changes by how you play it and your own alignment i.e. some lead to battles whereas because I am evil I find I have things in common with some of the evil npcs I have met.
The character building (despite it having a LOT of bugs) is where the game really shines! So many possibilities and it is all so intuitive.
If you are holding out on buying this then I have to say BUY IT NOW!!! We need to support this game because it is bloody amazing. It is so good I wouldn't mind writing a full review up of it which I have never done before.

Seems like the resolution issue is due to the unity engine (strangely, I didn't run into similar problem with PoE). It seems resolved now, so I'm going to dive straight in for some fun too.

Like bjon, I'm really enjoying Kingmaker so far.
The game runs smoothly on my PC, graphics and UI are so lovely and colourful, the character creation process is soooooo fun (so much choices, reminds me of D&D 3rd edition for sure!), and the story and quests so far very enjoyable. I have no issues with voice over (I wouldn't say it's outstanding but decent), NPCs are so-so at this point.
Ran into one annoying bug so far - my party is encumbered by invisible/miscalculated weights so I'm forever slowed….

I have 6 hours (according to steam) in and have only found one bug so far which I reported (an endless loop in a fight scene which I resolved by changing who I killed first). I also reported what I thought was a second bug but found out later was my own misunderstanding of how feats a character already have are done.
I feel bad for the devs at times as I am sure I am not the only one who reports a bug thinking it is a bug when it isn't. But on the other hand they are actually getting paid to let people test their game and find bugs so … no I don't feel all that bad when I think about it
I think it is @Couchpotato who has trouble deciding on a character to play - if so you will have the same in this game. I usually settle pretty quickly but I have played through the starting area 4 times with 4 different characters so far. Druid, Sorcerer, Ranger, and back to Sorcerer. Well sorcerer was twice but I built him different each time
Also this game is so cool in its attention to detail. After you know the opening story you might try to adjust your actions when you go through again and I found even when I tried to circumvent some things the game accounted for my actions in doing so. I have to admit I was very impressed by that.
Large Spoiler
Granted they can't change too much - wouldn't be fun if in the first 30 minutes of the game they said "Okay your done" game over. But from an immersion level the fact that they tracked some of my "tricks" was impressive.

This looks simply awesome. That character builder…*drool* And that it's actually DnD makes it somewhat graspable even though it's massive, unlike for example PoE where it was hard to make good choices becuase I had no idea about the bigger picture.
So…Is Monkey Grip still a thing? Nowhere near a Min-Max build I still would like to remake my Ranger from NWN2 dual wielding Schythes…

I like the nice little touches. Like when reading dialogue, hovering over a highlighted word will give you the background lore.

Chop chop, bug hunters! For every confirmed bug you discover, you get to pay an extra ten dollars.
Seriously, though, this is looking really good. Hope it doesn't languish in an early access state for ages.

The positive comments (and videos, because I still followed this a bit even if I didn't back it) might make me pre-order it. I was thinking of waiting for release though.

Couple of sample shots. I like how they did a few various ways to interact with the world. You move along a map based on icons that glide over the map. You have to discover roads and paths and which way to go. Some encounters seem to be random map ones, some are planned, and usually you have some wilderness to explore when you get to a special side point (small side quests).
Also while playing in the castle I got a mini-text based scene with a decision path. I have only seen one so far and it allowed for a complicated situation with some decisions that had impact. I included a shot with a spoiler tag although its not too much of a spoiler but want to be safe.
Camping is great with various options for setting guards, cooking, and the like. Nothing huge but immersive and not so time consuming it seems tedious. At least not yet … maybe after camping a 100 times I might change my mind
Only thing I want is more portraits. Some threads indicate we will be able to import our own portraits. Very excited to do that if we can later as I know I will fire up Skyrim and create a screenshot of my main character for this game once I decide on who I want to be. The "paper dolls" are 3D and very nicely done I thought. Not a ton of options for looks right now and its clear that part is in BETA or was left out on purpose. The half-elf has no options, for example.
My current guy is Wolf, a ranger. He won't get his animal companion (eagle, dog, or wolf) till level 4. Mixed feelings as I love Rangers but since the animal is based off his "druid" abilities (when he gets his spells), which start at level 4, means a weaker animal and more prone to getting killed (i.e. its 3 levels lower so the animal is level 1 while you are 4 - at least that is how I interpret it - maybe I am wrong. Wolf is only level 2 and the leveling seems nicely paced so will be a bit before I am 4 plus I keep trying new characters lol).
The animals for the Druid and the Mad-Dog Barbarian class are the strongest since they start at the same level you do. So torn on which class. Currently trying out Ranger, Barbarian Mad-Dog, Sylvan Sorcerer, and Druid.
Like the combat myself but I have never been as particular about my combat. There are 4 difficulties from easy to hard and I am playing on option 2 (4 being the hardest). Have died a few times regardless but more from lack of planning and not paying attention.

Came across another small bug. A group of wild small ponies were called young deer.

Barbarian mad dog…..just the sound of that particular class does it for me, I know exactly which I'll be playing the first time around.

Camping I found a bit underwhelming, especially compare to Expeditions: Viking, but still nice to see my party sitting around the camp, having a chit chat and all.
