Default Disaster averted (pop spilled on keyboard)

I had a similar incident with my laptop. Spilled milk over it, and it messed up a few of keys. So I tried to use a kitchen knife to pull the plastic top over it, but figured might as well clean the whole thing. Ended up wrecking everything, except for the power button. Somehow still works though, now it's more of a repurposed video player.

Yep, wounded laptops make for excellent HTPCs.

It was easier before. Then you could always use a defect monitor as a fish tank.

Now it's all just virtual.

I had that exact monitor once! Shadow Mask instead of Trinitron Aperture Grill lines, that stopped the glass from imploding. Although they were great for lining up CAD drawings.

That is perhaps the best repurposing I've ever seen for a computer monitor, well done indeed!! I also believe I had that exact model some years ago, man, those were the days.

Very nice, considering how many fish tank screen savers are out there !
