Skyrim Mod Becoming a full retail game

Hi.

A Skyrim mod (The Forgotten City) has been expanded on and is to be released as a full game.

Is this a first?

I really enjoyed the mod when I played it.

I wonder if more popular Skyrim mods will go retail - "Comically Oversized Boobs - The Game"

Well, the Dark Mod has gone independent from the game it originally modded but that's not retail. I can't think of any retail games off hand that started as mods of other games… oh wait, DOTA 2?

I liked it. It has decent storytelling and a sort of…was it one of those Star Trek episodes?…vibe to it.

Sorry doesn't look anything like the Skyrim mod it's just based on it and that's fine.

Update Again: The Steam version spinoff is made with Unreal Engine 4.

Update: I would like to see SureAI make their own game with a different engine. Though they have a new expansion for Enderal in the works and near release.

Hey Endraleans, as you guys probably know, we are still busy working on Forgotten Stories. We need your help and feedback to sort out bugs in the DLC. However, the current testing phase only includes the german version. No worries, there will be a testing phase for the english version too, but it is not ready for testing yet. We are also planning on releasing both versions at the same time! If you are interested and fluent in german, you can check out the german announcement for further information!

It's definitely not the first time a mod ended up becoming a retail game. I know it's happened a few times before with the most popular one probably being Counter Strike which began as a mod for Half-Life.

Yeah, there are quite a few examples. Another popular example is DayZ, which started as an ARMA 2 mod.

And dota.

All that aside, it's won't be using Gamebryo and is standalone thus I'm buying when it's done.

Yeah, they definitely have potential. Not sure they should go with Enderal's setting though, it can't really stand up to TES history and lore.
