The opposite is true. What we see is a desensitization in many countries of Europe (and the US). Far right viewpoints and phrases become "normal" more and more and drift into public space. Yes, the internet helps giving a loud minority a voice and it can function as an outrage machine.

I don't feel responsible for crimes my forefathers did (as nobody should), but that doesn't mean we should act as it never happened, allow glorification, history-bending or repeat it.

Are you guys serious? This is not about being sensitive or politically correct. You could make that argument with just about anything else, but we're talking about literal nazism here. Fanatics that believe other races are inferior and should be put to death. That's not just another political or social opinion. It's downright evil.

And for those of you still playing dumb and trying to give him the benefit of the doubt that he's not a neo-nazi , I once again invite you to look at his other social media. Obsession with cultural homogeneity, revisionist talking points, third reich tribute videos, white nationalist bands, and political groups that want the "restoration of the german empire." Yeah, I believe him when he said he was a nazi on the codex.

Furthermore, this isn't just some low level programmer we're talking about. It's the lead writer of the game. It's naive to assume his beliefs wont influence the game at all, and frankly that's not a bet I would be willing to take.

Finally, no one said that he isn't entitled to his beliefs. It's just that his beliefs are evil, and I'm entitled to call him an asshole for thinking my kind is lesser than his.

I'm not sure how much people could have you attacked you in RPG threads when you were barely posting in any by the end. Most game developers who post on the Codex wouldn't do this!

This is what I wanted to read, keeping things in perspective is always a necessity, no matter the nature of the subject.
Claiming death to the nazi doesn't make of you a better person, on the contrary. A life is a life, and killing people just because they got different opinion is no good at all. Sadly, that's the part of our all history, it always been like that, beleive it or not.

Does it make them really bad person? It's up to you to judge of that, but afterall, who are we to judge people, specially when we don't personnally know them. Claiming opinions is one thing, acting for them in another one, specially when it comes to harm to your neighbor.

Probably? Hell no, it's undeniable at this point. Until the developers address the fact that their lead writer is a national socialist, I will be reminding people on every single thread, in the kickstarter comments, and anywhere else I see them promoting the game.

Just make sure the animations allow me to make my moves quickly! I've probably already decided my actions several turns in advance and anything slowing me down in carrying them out will get tedious. Even DOS2 was only just fast enough. DOS1 was too slow. The units should have finished their animations before my mouse cursor gets to its next destination. You can speed up combats to 5x or something (it's explained on the official site but I don't feel to go there to check right now).

I think you're jumping the gun. He's talked about dating a Muslim woman a year or two ago. Nazis don't date outside their own race.

I do hope Silvercoin and Winterfart created an account at the Codex as well as RPGWatch.

You both definitely seem at home with drama, wouldn't want you to miss any.

We don't use the term "race" here in Germany, maybe Nazis and Neonazis do, but we here say "culture".

I openly say that I have found it all of my life always VERY DISTURBING that the English language STILL uses the term "race when speaking of people coming from other parts of the world (mostly outside of the european context -> immigrants from Europe into USA) -

Me, I'm feeling so much safer with the German term of "cultures" -> "multicultural societies",
often shortened to "multi-culti", which has nowadays gotten a bad tongue like the word "Gutmensch".

The term "multicultural" clearly shows that the HUMAN is so much more, far more important than where he or she comes from.

Of course, I can only speak for myself.

Everyday "racism" - this is the ONLY word used in German language in which the word "race" is there, clearly showuing that "racism" is a thing still connected with Nazi-thinking - is there, of course. Things don't change over a few decades. It needs hundreds of years to end that, and, especially, cultural shifts. Cultural shifts.

Personally, I'm glad to live close to a town - Cologne - in which there is so much multicultiralism, and at the same time I can feel Deutsch - in my point of view BECAUSE in thattown there's so much embraced. In my opinion, every single bit enriches us, culturally. What would the world be without Pizza, Spaghett and Döner ?
